Book Layout Designer / Canva + Print Formatting Specialist (Police Academy Blueprint Project)

We are looking for a highly skilled designer to take an existing training workbook (Police Academy Blueprint) and turn it into a professional, print-ready book. This book will be sold on TikTok Shop and our website and must feel premium, cohesive, and brand-aligned.

You will work closely with me to take the content, structure it visually, create clean page layouts, design section headers, insert icons/graphics, and prep everything for high-quality printing.

This is a one-time project with the possibility of long-term work if the quality is excellent.

? SCOPE OF WORK

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Book Formatting & Layout

Create an 8.5 x 11 print-ready book using Canva (or InDesign if preferred).

Proper margins, bleed, spacing, and alignment for printing.

Clean typography using our brand style.

2. Visual Design

Design a professional book cover (front + back + spine).

Create consistent section headers and visual elements.

Use Hughes Initiative branding, colors, style.

3. Integrating Content

Take the text from our Police Academy Blueprint modules (WORD DOCUMENTS) and organize it logically.

Insert graphics, icons, callouts, charts, tables, and example pages.

Ensure a clean, modern “law enforcement training manual” feel.

4. Print Preparation

Deliver a full PDF ready for printing.

Ensure correct bleed settings and high-resolution export.

Provide an editable Canva file.

5. Optional (Bonus)

Create a matching digital version optimized for screen reading.

Suggest improvements in layout or flow.

IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST HAVES:

Strong experience in Canva book layout OR Adobe InDesign

Ability to follow brand guidelines

Excellent eye for detail, spacing, and visual hierarchy

Fast communication and ability to meet deadlines

Portfolio of previous book/workbook designs of this scale required
