JOB OVERVIEW

Job Title: U.S. Tax Specialist (S-Corp and Individual Returns)
Location: Remote (Philippines)
Employment Type: Part-time
About the Company
CareLytix LLC a U.S.-based IT consulting firm (S-Corporation) providing software development and technology consulting services. Our company has a small team of W-2 employees (in Maryland), a few U.S.-based consultants, and around 20 offshore consultants.
We are looking for an experienced U.S. Tax Specialist based in the Philippines who can prepare and file business and personal tax returns, handle quarterly and annual compliance filings, and work with QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2024 and Intuit TurboTax.

Key Responsibilities
1. Corporate Tax Preparation (S-Corp)
• Prepare and file Form 1120-S (U.S. Income Tax Return for S Corporation) using Intuit TurboTax Business.
• Prepare Schedule K-1 for shareholders and ensure accurate pass-through income reporting.
• Coordinate quarterly estimated tax payments for both federal and state (Maryland).
• Reconcile income and expenses between QuickBooks Desktop Pro and TurboTax before filing.
• Prepare and file supporting schedules such as depreciation (Form 4562) and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Maintain records and ensure tax documents are properly archived for audit readiness.
2. Personal Tax Preparation (Form 1040)
• Prepare and file Form 1040 for the company owner and spouse using TurboTax Home & Business / Premier.
• Handle all personal income sources including:
o W-2 income from employment
o Pass-through income from the S-Corp (via Schedule K-1)
o Rental property income (Schedule E)
o Investment income (capital gains/losses on stocks and T-bonds; Schedule D)
o Interest income from savings or government bonds (Schedule B)
• Identify tax-saving opportunities, deductions, and credits.
• Prepare and reconcile estimated tax payments for the personal returns.
• Provide a year-end summary of the owner’s personal and business tax impact.
3. Quarterly and Annual Compliance
• Prepare and file quarterly estimated tax payments for both business and personal returns.
• Prepare quarterly and annual state and federal filings, including:
o Payroll tax returns (Form 941, Form 940)
o State withholding and unemployment reports (Maryland)
o Annual W-2 and W-3 filings
o Annual 1099-NEC filings for U.S. consultants
• Assist with compliance for 401(k) contributions and reporting.
4. Financial Review & Coordination
• Coordinate with the company’s in-house accountant or bookkeeper to ensure accurate data flow between QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2024 and TurboTax.
• Review Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports before finalizing tax filings.
• Maintain accurate documentation for all returns and tax payments.
• Communicate regularly with the business owner regarding filing deadlines and estimated tax liabilities.
5. Tax Strategy & Advisory
• Advise the company owner on tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
• Provide guidance on deductible expenses, depreciation schedules, and capital asset handling.
• Stay current with U.S. federal and Maryland state tax law changes relevant to S-Corps and individuals.
• Support any audit or IRS correspondence related to filed returns.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience preparing U.S. tax returns for both S-Corps (Form 1120-S) and individuals (Form 1040).
• Strong proficiency in Intuit TurboTax (Business and Personal) and QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2024.
• In-depth understanding of U.S. tax laws, especially for pass-through entities and individual investments.
• Experience preparing supporting schedules (Schedule K-1, E, B, D, etc.).
• Excellent English communication and documentation skills.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.
• CPA or EA (U.S. Enrolled Agent) license preferred, but not required.

Preferred Experience
• Experience working with U.S.-based clients or accounting firms.
• Familiarity with Maryland state tax regulations.
• Knowledge of 401(k) plan reporting and payroll tax compliance.
• Comfortable working remotely and managing sensitive financial data securely.
