Senior Full Stack Engineer / Director of Engineering (Project-Based)

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer / Director of Engineering who can lead architecture, own implementation, and strengthen our existing systems while driving new project development.

You’ll start by reviewing and assessing our current codebase, identifying opportunities to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability. Then, you’ll take ownership of milestone-based projects — architecting, building, and delivering production-ready features using our modern tech stack.

This is a hands-on leadership role, perfect for someone who loves working across the stack, mentoring through example, and continuously improving technical quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess existing codebase, identify technical debt, and provide recommendations for optimization, refactoring, and scalability improvements.
- Architect and build full-stack applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and TailwindCSS.
- Design and maintain back-end services using Supabase, PlanetScale, and JavaScript/Node.js.
- Implement, integrate, and optimize LangChain, LLM APIs, and other external APIs.
- Define and execute technical milestones, ensuring deliverables are scoped, efficient, and aligned with project goals.
- Establish and maintain engineering best practices — documentation, QA, CI/CD, version control, and testing.
- Collaborate with product and design teams to translate UX and business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Conduct code reviews and uphold high standards for performance, security, and maintainability.
- Proactively suggest and implement architectural improvements as the product evolves.

Requirements
- 6+ years of experience as a Full Stack Engineer, Technical Lead, or Director-level Engineer.
- Advanced proficiency in React, Next.js, TypeScript, TailwindCSS, and modern front-end frameworks.
- Strong back-end experience with Supabase, PlanetScale, and Node.js/JavaScript.
- Proven experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) and frameworks like LangChain.
- Deep understanding of scalable architecture, API design, and database optimization.
- Ability to read, analyze, and improve existing codebases while maintaining continuity.
- Demonstrated success managing project-based development cycles and milestone delivery.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Organized, self-directed, and proactive in identifying technical improvements.

Nice to Have
- Experience with authentication systems, serverless functions, and cloud deployments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, or infrastructure automation.
- Background mentoring developers or leading small technical teams.
- Experience with AI-driven product development or integrating multiple external APIs.
