About Us:
Exploring Scholar is a Canada based facility that provides high-quality academic support to students online. We are expanding our roster of experienced math educators to meet growing learner demand.
Service Windows & Minimum Availability:
• Primary learner demand window: Weekday Tuesday–Saturday, 7:00 AM–11:30 AM Philippines Time (PHT), Weekend AM and PM blocks (Saturday–Monday)
• Minimum weekly availability: 15 hours during the windows above (more can be better)
Compensation:
• Starting contract rate: CAD 25 per hour of live teaching time
• Opportunities to increase earnings through small-group classes after strong 1:1 performance
Core Responsibilities:
• Deliver high-quality, online 1:1 math instruction to primary or secondary-school students
• Diagnose learning gaps and guide students through problem-solving steps and applications
• Provide concise lesson summaries, targeted practice suggestions, and progress notes
• Provide extra practice questions and provide feedback once the students submit them back
• Use Zoom or a comparable platform; manage your own digital whiteboard and resources
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mathematics, Science, or Engineering from a top university
• Experience: at least 3 years full-time teaching, or 5 years part-time teaching
• Excellent command of English (spoken and written) suitable for clear, precise explanations
• Reliable computer, camera, microphone/headset, stable high-speed internet, and a quiet teaching space
Nice to Have (Asset):
• Familiarity with the North American high school math curriculum (e.g., Grade 11 Functions), or the AP and IB Advanced international curriculum
• Prior online tutoring experience and comfort using a digital whiteboard
Growth Path:
• Strong performers may be invited to deliver small-group classes with higher pay rates
Mandatory Application Task (Sample Teaching Video):
• Topic: Application of sinusoidal functions (Ontario Grade 11 curriculum) - if you would like to teach at a lower level, reach out with your application first and we'll reply with a more suitable topic.
• Duration: Minimum 20 minutes
• Format: Remote-teaching style (e.g., Zoom) showing both your presentation and you on camera
• Submission: Upload to Google Drive, Dropbox, YouTube (unlisted), or Vimeo and ensure the link is viewable by anyone with the link
