Role Overview

The Accounts Manager will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records through Xero. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Australian accounts processing, including BAS preparation, Superannuation management, and Payroll compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Bank Reconciliations.
Prepare and process Business Activity Statements (BAS), IAS, and PAYG submissions in accordance with ATO requirements.
Oversee and manage Superannuation contributions, ensuring timely payments and compliance with Australian regulations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in Xero, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial adjustments.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports, including P&L and Balance Sheets.
Support end-of-year financial statements and coordinate with external accountants or auditors.
Ensure all transactions comply with Australian accounting standards (AASB) and tax legislation.
Implement and improve financial processes and internal controls.
Assist in developing budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial planning models.
Supervise and mentor accounts staff to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) highly regarded.
3–5+ years of accounting experience in an Australian business environment.
Proven experience using Xero for full-cycle accounting.
Strong understanding of Australian taxation, BAS, PAYG, and Superannuation requirements.
Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business management tools.
