We’re looking for a detail-driven Electrical Estimator who can run the full estimating cycle—from plan takeoffs and vendor pricing through a polished proposal and project handoff. You’ll also help us keep the pipeline full by sourcing opportunities on bid boards and prequal portals.
What You’ll Do
Takeoffs & Scope
Perform accurate electrical takeoffs (lighting, power, gear, branch, low-voltage as applicable) using Bluebeam Revu.
Identify inclusions/exclusions, value-engineering options, and bid alternates.
Estimating & Proposals
Build labor & material estimates; apply crew rates, productivity factors, and contingencies.
Draft clear scopes and write formal proposals with clarifications, notes, and assumptions.
Vendor & Sub Coordination
Request, track, and level vendor quotes (switchgear, lighting, controls, specialty systems).
Negotiate pricing and lead times; maintain a current quote log and vendor list.
Bid Strategy & Meetings
Lead estimate meetings across the project phases: kickoff, scope review, risk review, pricing review, and final number.
Coordinate with operations for handoff when awarded (budget, alternates, buyout targets).
Pipeline Development
Find work: monitor and search bid boards (e.g., BuildingConnected, ConstructConnect, PlanHub, Dodge, local GC portals).
Manage prequalifications, RFIs, addenda tracking, and bid calendars.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure estimates align with codes, specs, and addenda; flag gaps, conflicts, and scope creep early.
What You Bring
2+ years as an electrical estimator (commercial, multifamily, TI, light industrial, or service projects).
Bluebeam Revu proficiency (takeoffs, markups, legends, quantity links).
Strong understanding of assemblies, unit pricing, and labor productivity.
Experience writing estimates and proposals (clear scope language).
Comfortable communicating with vendors and leveling quotes.
Professional, fluent English communication (written & verbal).
Solid grasp of plans/specs, addenda, RFIs, and bid forms.
Organized, deadline-driven, and confident running internal review meetings.
Nice to Have
Experience with PlanSwift/STACK/Accubid (or similar).
Familiarity with NEC, Title 24 basics, gear/lighting submittals.
Relationships with Bay Area vendors and GCs.
Experience estimating service work, panel upgrades, EVSE, and lighting retrofits.
Key Metrics (KPIs)
Bid accuracy vs. actuals (post-award variance).
On-time bid submissions (% on schedule).
Win rate (by project type/GC).
Quote coverage/leveling completeness.
RFI/addenda capture rate.
