Boston Kitchen – A Boston-based nonprofit dedicated to providing food to school children through leveraging government as well as private funded funds.
Position Type:
Part-time to full-time, remote (flexible hours, with potential to grow)
Position Overview:
Boston Kitchen is seeking a self-motivated, proactive, and experienced Development & Donor Outreach Specialist to drive our fundraising initiatives. This role is critical for expanding our impact by building relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations, and by scheduling and managing high-value donor meetings. The ideal candidate is a leader, a doer, and an independent problem-solver who thrives on taking initiative and producing tangible results.
Key Responsibilities:
Prospecting & Research: Identify potential donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors aligned with Boston Kitchen’s mission.
Outreach & Engagement: Initiate contact via
Meeting Coordination: Schedule and manage donor meetings, including preparation of materials and follow-up communications.
Donor Relationship Management: Track communications, update donor CRM systems (Bloomerang, DonorPerfect, Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, or similar), and maintain accurate records of donor activity.
Proposal & Materials Support: Assist in drafting proposals, one-pagers, and donor impact reports.
Independent Initiative: Develop strategies for donor engagement, identify opportunities for growth, and implement solutions with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor development, or foundation relations
Proven track record of prospecting donors and scheduling high-level meetings
Strong knowledge of nonprofit CRM software (Bloomerang, DonorPerfect, Salesforce, etc.)
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Highly self-directed, organized, and results-oriented
Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
Leadership qualities: able to identify opportunities, take action, and see projects through
Preferred Skills:
Experience with grant research and proposal drafting
Comfort working with corporate and foundation donors
Understanding of food insecurity, SNAP/WIC programs, or community-based nonprofit programs
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate or salary, commensurate with experience
Flexible schedule, primarily remote
