Assistant Controller / NetSuite Accounting Specialist

Role Description
As the Assistant Controller, you’ll ensure accurate, timely, and scalable financial operations. You’ll own month-end close, payroll, AP/AR, financial reporting, and cash flow management—all while building out and enforcing smart, standardized processes.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and finds joy in transforming chaos into clarity. You’ll be expected to lead from the front, working both strategically and hands-on. You will collaborate closely with our fractional CFO, who will guide high-level financial strategy, while you handle the systems, people, and process execution that make those strategies real.

Key Responsibilities/Objectives
- Team Leadership & Accountability
- Lead the financial accountability expectations, timelines, and accuracy.
- Be the subject matter expert for financial processes, financial measurement & management systems for the team, coaching and mentoring them as needed.
- Assist in creating and following SOPs, and workflows for all key financial functions (bookkeeping, AP/AR, payroll, insurance updates, etc.) and ensure you meet deadlines.
- Process Development, Standardization & Enforcement
- Assist in building and continually improve clear, repeatable financial processes across all departments—from monthly close to payment approvals to reporting cycles.
- Month-End Close, Payroll, & Audit Preparation
- Own and drive timely, accurate month-end closes.
- Ensure smooth and timely execution of payroll and tax payments.
- Partner with our external CPA and internal leadership team to ensure tax
readiness and compliance.
- Execute the strategies created by our fractional CFO.
- Financial Reporting, Metrics & Decision Support
- Monitor and report on cash flow, budgets, and key financial KPIs.
- Update metrics and create reports that help each company make informed,
data-driven decisions.
- Attend weekly and monthly financial meetings with internal leadership teams and
provide recommendations to consistently improve revenues, control COGS, & SG&A.
- AP Management & Billing System Modernization
- Open, sort, scan, and upload all relevant invoices and documents to be processed.
- Ensure time-sensitive or vendor-critical documents are prioritized and accurately entered.
- Lead the initiative to transition all vendors and billing systems to paperless formats and auto-pay where possible.

Gotta Have:
- Accounting background (GAAP focus).
- 1=3 years of progressive financial operations experience.
- Demonstrated experience creating and rolling out scalable financial processes.
- Proficient in Netsuite.
- Strong project management skills.

Nice to Have:
- Industry experience in digital marketing
- Experience in M&A or integrating acquired companies.
- Experience leading transitions from manual to digital finance operations.
