JOB OVERVIEW

# Web Designer/Developer | WordPress/Divi | Remote | Contract-to-Hire

## Background

Technology Aloha is an award-winning web design and development agency that has been in business for 13+ years. We maintain a perfect 5/5 rating on Indeed. We're a small, fully remote team that builds custom WordPress sites for clients nationwide.

We're selective about who we work with — both clients and tea ---------- mbers. We do good work for good people: companies and nonprofits that are making a positive impact. We provide clear systems, direct communication, and the support you need to work independently and grow your skills. Kindness matters here.

## Job Description

We're hiring a Web Designer/Developer to design and build custom WordPress sites. You'll work directly with our Founder in a fast-paced documentation-driven environment where we value independence, clear communication, and growth potential over years of experience.

This is a 90-120 day contract position ($900-$1,100 USD/month) with conversion to full employment for the right person. By Month 2, you'll lead client maintenance tickets and email communication independently. By Month 6, you'll begin client meeting participation.

## Detailed Responsibilities

Your daily responsibilities will include:

1. Design website mockups (starting with homepages) and extrapolate design across full sites from brand guidelines
2. Build custom WordPress sites using the Divi framework from your approved mockups
3. Execute rigorous QA before any client delivery
4. Lead client ticket fulfillment and email communication (by Month 2)
5. Participate in client meetings (by Month 6+)
6. Review client meeting recordings to extract requirements independently
7. Troubleshoot systematically; escalate with clear context when needed
8. Document processes and communicate progress in writing

## Required Technical Skills and Experience

**Required:**

1. 4-year Computer Science or IT degree from a recognized university
2. Exceptional English (speaking, writing, comprehension) — you'll be client-facing by Month 2
3. Strong HTML/CSS/JavaScript foundation
4. Design capability: create homepage mockups and extrapolate full-site design from brand guidelines
5. Eye for aesthetics and visual hierarchy
6. Systematic problem-solving approach
7. Ability to work independently within documented systems

## Soft Skills

We value both kindness and clarity. We communicate directly and move quickly, but always with respect and consideration. You'll do well here if you:

- Receive feedback as helpful information, not personal criticism
- Value working with purpose — creating sites for clients who are doing good work
- Feel comfortable working independently within supportive systems (we're here when you need us)
- Are naturally organized and detail-oriented
- Can judge when to solve problems on your own vs. when to ask for help
- Want to learn quickly and build your technical confidence (weeks, not months)

## Basic Skills

In addition to excellent English skills, you'll need to use:

- Web research using search engines
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar)
- Gmail and other email applications
- Communication tools (RingCentral (Glip), Zoom, HelpScout)
- Project management software (Trello, Paymo)
- Time tracking software (Paymo, Timeproof)

## Desired Technical Skills and Experience

**Preferred (not required):**

1. WordPress and/or Divi experience
2. Portfolio demonstrating attention to detail
