WordPress Developer Wanted – Build a Regional Directory + Subscription Platform (Home & Garden Industry)

We’re a UK-based home & garden brand building a new directory and subscription platform.

If you’re a WordPress pro who can handle WooCommerce, Stripe, and regional listings, we want you on board.

Work directly with the founder and no middle managers, no chaos, just clean builds and clear goals.

About the Project

We’re building a regional directory and lead generation platform for the home and garden industry connecting homeowners with trusted landscapers, designers, and contractors in their area.

Each region will host up to 5 businesses, who pay a monthly subscription for their listing.

The website will also capture homeowner enquiries, automatically route leads to the right region, and allow regional partners to manage their listings.

This is the first build (MVP) and it needs to be stable, easy to use, and scalable.

Your Role

You’ll be responsible for:

Building the website in WordPress using a directory plugin (GeoDirectory, ListingPro, or MyListing).

Setting up WooCommerce Subscriptions + Stripe (Stripe Tax + SCA) for payments.

Creating user roles: Admin, Regional Manager, Contractor.

Configuring forms to capture and route leads by postcode/region.

Adding SEO setup (RankMath) and performance optimisation (WP Rocket, image compression).

Designing clean, mobile-friendly pages (we’ll provide brand direction).

Delivering a short admin guide and 2-week post-launch support.

Requirements

3+ years of experience with WordPress + WooCommerce
Strong knowledge of directory or membership sites
Experience with Stripe Subscriptions and recurring payments
Familiarity with Gravity Forms / Fluent Forms and CRM integration (GoHighLevel)
Clear communicator, reliable, self-organised
Excellent English

Nice to Have

Experience with GeoDirectory, MyListing, or ListingPro

Familiar with Stripe Tax / EU VAT

Basic Elementor / Figma / CSS design skills

Able to provide a staging environment (Kinsta, WP Engine, or similar)

Deliverables

Fully functional WordPress MVP site (directory, subscriptions, lead routing).

Admin guide (PDF or Loom walkthrough).

Staging and live site setup.

2-week bug fix period after launch.

Timeline

Start: Immediately (this week if possible)

Delivery: 4 - 8 weeks (approx. 100 hours total)

Milestones:

Week 1 - Setup & Directory Framework. WP setup, plugins, regions, listing structure
Week 2- Subscriptions & Lead Forms. Woo Subscriptions, Stripe, form to GHL webhook
Week 3 - Design & Testing. Styling, responsiveness, basic SEO, test routing
Week 4 - Final Launch & Admin Guide. Go-live, bug fix window, Loom walkthrough
