Job Description:
Adapting Social is seeking a creative, intuitive, highly-detailed oriented, and organized Web Designer to join the Web Department. This role is both design-heavy and edit-heavy, requiring a well-rounded candidate who is equally comfortable building websites from scratch and updating or refining existing ones.
The ideal candidate is collaborative, organized, communicative, driven to create high-performing digital experiences, and an efficient multitasker.. You’ll be working primarily within Wix and Wix Studio, with additional projects in WordPress (including but not limited to Elementor) and Shopify. Strong design skills, technical understanding of web platforms, and a passion for clean UI/UX are essential to this role. This role collaborates closely with the Web Manager, SEO Specialists, and other designers, and marketing teams to bring brand visions to life across a variety of client industries.
Web designers have a varied set of tasks and responsibilities. However, a designer’s role revolves around creating the layout and visual aspects of a website. Their goal is often to make sure the site is both visually pleasing and user friendly and encourages visitors to stay around for as long as possible. In addition to the general framework and layout structure, this also means considering and constructing conversion-generating elements, as well as designing web pages in a way that translates well across various devices. Web designers need to stay updated on the latest web design trends and adhere to certain standards and best practices. They often deal with brand imagery, color palettes, fonts, and so on.
This position reports to the Web Manager.
Desired Skill Set:
Strong working knowledge of Wix Classic Editor and Wix Studio (required)
HTML and CSS knowledge
WordPress Experience (required)
Elementor Page Builder Experience
Shopify and SquareSpace knowledge
Understanding the Principles of website design and web accessibility standards
Responsive and interaction design
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
Branding, color theory, and typography
Design tools and software
Photoshop/Illustrator knowledge
Self-motivated and capable of working independently and in teams
High attention to detail and excellent time management
Great written and verbal communication (English)
Responsibilities:
Plan, design, and edit responsive, on-brand websites and landing pages for clients across various platforms (WordPress, Shopify, Square Space), with a focus on Wix Classic Editor and Wix Studio
Maintain and update existing websites with layout enhancements, UI improvements, and performance-based revisions
Collaborate with the Web Manager and Sr. Web Designers on full web builds and daily project execution
Create layouts that are mobile-friendly and optimized for conversion
Build and maintain websites across Wix, WordPress, Shopify, Square Space and other platforms as needed
Apply design best practices for typography, branding, color theory, and accessibility
Manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining high design standards
Stay current with web design trends, platform updates, and user experience innovation.
Translate creative strategy into effective visual solutions that align with business goals
Requirements:
2+ years of agency and/or start-up experience
Demonstrate experience with Wix/Wix Studio web design and editing
Strong conceptual and visual communication skills
First-hand experience with web design
A strong eye for visual composition and layout
Knowledge of restrictions and limitations as it relates to design
Great communication skills
Takes criticism very, very well
Ability to receive direction, comprehend feedback, and learn from teammates but also take initiative and meet various design challenges
Highly adaptable and versatile
Must be able to prove design process
You must be able to submit a portfolio with current or past work that you have done showcasing website builds and edits across different platforms
