JOB OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a versatile and reliable Graphic Designer from the Philippines to join our remote team and help us create excellent, branded visuals that make our content stand out.

ABOUT US

My name is Austin, and I lead a small team focused on growing an online education business called Freelance Cake. We offer coaching, coworking, and community for advanced freelancers. We put out a lot of content, including LinkedIn posts, weekly newsletter, another newsletter on Substack, and a variety of client-facing deliverables.

We need a designer who can remove roadblocks and make it effortless to create and share strong, differentiated visuals across our channels. Our goal is to move faster and more consistently, without design slowing us down.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Newsletter & Editorial Design
- Create visuals to accompany our Long Ideas essays (Substack): ---------- /
- Design editorial-style layouts that are clean, professional, and engaging.
2. Marketing & Brand Assets
- Develop branded templates for proposals, decks, and presentations.
- Create visuals for LinkedIn posts, including carousels, illustrations, and quote graphics.
- Design supporting visuals for our signature framework and other “second-tier” assets.
- Maintain consistency across all brand visuals while also evolving and strengthening our visual identity.
3. Variety of Design Projects
- Occasionally assist with client projects (sales decks, lead magnets, etc.).
- Collaborate on web pages, icons, and brand identity when needed.
- Repurpose content into fresh, creative formats for different platforms.
- Comfortably shift between different types of design work week to week.
4. Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with our team and sometimes directly with clients.
- Take creative briefs and not only execute them but also bring new ideas, enhancements, and strategic thinking to the table.


REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALITIES

- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Highly versatile: able to produce strong work across branding, editorial, web, and social media design
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or equivalent tools
- Strong sense of typography, layout, and modern design trends
- Comfortable with fast turnarounds for social media content
- Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and proactive communicator
- Strategic thinker: understands how design supports business goals
- Flexible: enjoys variety and can switch between project types quickly


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Previous experience designing for newsletters, social media, and brand identity
- Strong illustration skills
- Web design experience (Figma, Webflow, or similar)
- Ability to enhance creative briefs with ideas and improvements
- Bonus: motion graphics or basic animation


WORKING HOURS & AVAILABILITY

- This is a part-time remote role with potential to grow into a full-time position.
- Estimated 10–15 hours/week to start (around 40–60 hours/month).
- Flexible hours — you can work at the times you prefer, not during U.S. business hours.
- Must have reliable computer with a fast internet connection and backup options.
