Hive Academy is looking for two experienced Reading & English Comprehension Tutors from the Philippines who are passionate about nurturing young readers and helping students develop strong literacy skills.
You will teach small-group online classes (Grades 1–12) and occasional 1:1 sessions to students in Canada, delivering lessons that build comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and writing confidence.
This is a premium tutoring role designed to set a new benchmark for quality education support in Labrador West — so we seek tutors with strong communication skills, engaging personalities, and the ability to inspire students to love reading and learning.

Key Responsibilities
- Teach Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary Development, Grammar, and Writing Skills for Grades 1–12.
- Conduct diagnostic reading assessments and adjust lesson plans to each student’s level.
- Create engaging online sessions using storytelling, interactive discussion, and guided questioning.
- Introduce effective comprehension strategies (summarizing, predicting, inferencing, context analysis).
- Guide students to express ideas clearly and write coherent paragraphs and essays.
- Provide concise progress feedback to parents and recommend home reading strategies.
- Collaborate with Hive Academy’s content team to align lessons with student goals and standards.

Qualifications
- We are seeking passionate, confident tutors who bring both expertise and empathy to every class.
Education & Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Literature, Communication Arts, Linguistics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years experience teaching English/Reading Comprehension (K–12 or ESL).
- Proven success in developing reading fluency, comprehension, and writing among diverse learners.

Professional Skills
- Native-level English fluency, neutral accent, and exceptional communication skills.
- Strong grasp of phonics, grammar instruction, and critical reading techniques.
- Skilled in online classroom management and active student engagement.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Zoom/Meet, and digital whiteboard tools.
- Reliable internet connection (?25 Mbps), quality camera/mic, and quiet teaching space.
- Able to deliver lessons that balance structure, warmth, and creativity.

Work Hours
Canada (Labrador City Time): 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Mon–Fri)
Philippines Time: approximately 2:00 AM – 5:00 AM or 3:00 AM – 6:00 AM, depending on DST.
Optional extended hours during Canadian school breaks (June–August).

Engagement Type
Independent Contractor (Philippines-based) — not part of Canadian payroll.
Tutors will invoice Hive Academy for their services and handle their own local tax obligations.
