Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant with a strong background in bookkeeping and a deep understanding of logistics, trucking operations, and U.S. tax and accounting laws. The ideal candidate will manage all accounting functions, ensure financial accuracy, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making. A QuickBooks certification is required.

Responsibilities
• Manage all aspects of bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Reconcile bank statements, fuel accounts, and equipment financing transactions.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
• Process invoices, track expenses, and manage vendor and carrier payments.
• Handle payroll processing for drivers and staff, ensuring DOT-compliant recordkeeping.
• Maintain accurate accounting of fleet-related expenses (fuel, maintenance, insurance, permits, etc.).
• Prepare and file all tax returns in compliance with federal, state, and local U.S. tax laws.
• Ensure all accounting practices comply with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and current IRS regulations.
• Assist with budgeting, cost forecasting, and operational financial analysis specific to trucking operations.
• Generate reports to evaluate load profitability, cost per mile, and operating ratios.
• Collaborate with management to ensure financial decisions align with company goals and compliance standards.

Qualifications
• Proven experience as an Accountant or Bookkeeper, with a minimum of [X] years in accounting roles (preferably within trucking or logistics).
• QuickBooks Certified (required).
• Strong understanding of trucking and logistics accounting (IFTA reporting, maintenance tracking, driver settlements).
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. tax and accounting laws and ability to ensure full regulatory compliance.
• Expert-level proficiency in bookkeeping principles and practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
• Additional coursework or certification in transportation or logistics accounting is a plus.
