Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Virtual Paralegal to assist our team with family law cases. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent written communication, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced virtual setting. The paralegal will work closely with attorneys to prepare filings, discovery, and client communications.

Responsibilities

Draft and format legal documents including motions, discovery requests and responses, financial statements, subpoenas, and proposed orders.

Assist with document management, file organization, and indexing exhibits for court and discovery.

Review, summarize, and prepare document productions and evidence binders.

Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff under attorney supervision.

Manage case timelines, deadlines, and reminders using firm case management systems (MyCase or similar).

Conduct basic legal and factual research related to family law matters.

Support attorneys in trial and hearing preparation, including creating witness lists, exhibit lists, and summaries.

Maintain confidentiality and compliance with all ethical and procedural requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience, preferably in family law.

Familiarity with Maryland family law rules and court procedures is strongly preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal practice management software (MyCase experience preferred).

Excellent writing, proofreading, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote environment.

Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.

Paralegal certificate or degree preferred.

Preferred Skills

Experience preparing discovery indexes and reviewing financial documents (e.g., tax returns, bank statements, retirement accounts).

Ability to draft clear and professional client communications.

Comfort with remote collaboration tools such as Zoom, ShareFile, and cloud-based document systems.

Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a high-volume caseload.
