Hello,
This isn’t just another freelance gig. It’s part of something bigger. We’re sharing knowledge with the world.
Follow this link to check out what we're doing: fastreads.co/kickstarter
Here’s a direct quote a full-time writer:
"It's exciting to know there's an entire community out there validating our work [...] As I mentioned in the past, it's the most meaningful work I've ever done--getting to learn new things everyday, working with a really understanding and supportive team; I don't see how it could get better. My other projects were impersonal and a little bland."
Please review the rest of job post and apply if you're interested. It'd be cool if you did.
I am looking for a writer fluent in English to write no less than a 12-page book summary of the following book:
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kond?
NOTE: Native or bilingual English is required and proper grammar is a must.
I am interested in partnering with someone on multiple future assignments, for the long-term…so the potential for you to earn $1000+ for future work. I’m looking for someone who can help produce 2 or more books per week.
My vision…
I need a summary of this book with analysis and key takeaways. I want to be able to read the summary, and in 20 to 30 minutes, gain a solid understanding of the important messages and/or advice found in the book. The summary should be concise and use bold, italics, bullets, etc. as necessary to help with readability (think business writing, not academic writing).
I used to purchase “summary” books from Amazon, so that I could get the essence, key takeaways, important recommendations, etc. from a book, without having to read the entire book myself and digest. So I started a business to publish these summaries!
Here’s an example: https://www.amazon.com/Summary-Jason-Fungs-Obesity-Code-ebook/dp/B0725THGN2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495570797&sr=8-1&keywords=sumoreads

If the work that you deliver is quality, and the price is reasonable, I am looking for a writer to partner with on many more book summaries.
***DETAILS***
The length is not as important as the quality of your writing and the content, but you must meet the 12-page minimum.
Plagiarism will not be tolerated. I need a summary of the book with key takeaways in your own words, not copy and pasting. You can certainly use direct quotes and examples from the book in your summary, but all other content must be original. (My staff will thoroughly check report for plagiarism. If we find any plagiarized material, it will reported to OnlineJobs.ph and services will not be paid for.)
By accepting this offer, you are agreeing to the following terms: you will own no rights to and that your name will appear nowhere on or within and that I will own all rights to including resell and distribution rights.
Book Summary will include the following:
- Table of Contents
- 1 to 2 paragraph "Book summary overview" which is used for the description page on Amazon (we sell our books on Amazon). This is a more sales-y paragraph that just talks about what the book has to offer and entices people to buy it
- 1 to 2 paragraph executive summary of the entire book up front (introduction to the actual book)
- Summary of key takeaways, recommendations, with examples to illustrate where appropriate (see attached example)
- Bulleted pointed list of 8+ things/benefits the reader will learn from reading summary of the book (listed out upfront in Word doc upon delivery)
- 3+ interesting/catchy quotes from the book included throughout summary (please cite specific estimated page numbers for all quotes)
- 3-5 paragraph editorial review of book (your opinion of the book overall) - please no first person singular or collective for this section. You can say "you will enjoy this book because" but not "I enjoyed it because..."
***
Example of bulleted pointed list of 8+ benefits the reader will gain from reading the book:
• The ingredients of grit: passion and perseverance
• How grit is more important than talent
• Why effort counts twice as much
• How gritty people are more successful
• How to develop your own grit using the four psychological assets
• The importance of goal-setting, optimism, and a growth mindset
• How to develop grit in your children
• How to create a culture of grit
***
The report must be written in:
- A font size of 12 points
- Times new roman font type
- Single spaced with margins no more than 1” on all sides (left, right, to, bottom) - Microsoft Word
- 1st person and Active Voice (NOT Passive: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/owlprint/539/ ), but you should not use the author’s name extensively (e.g., “In order to Think Fast & Slow, you should do XYZ…” not “Daniel Kahneman suggests that you do XYZ to Think Fast & Slow)
You must proofread your work for any spelling or grammatical errors before delivering final product.
The completed project is to be delivered in Microsoft Word within the designated time frame, unless otherwise agreed upon upfront.
***Think concise, readable, simple business writing for this - not fluffy academic writing!***
If your summary meets (or hopefully exceeds!) my expectations, I am seriously interested in partnering with you on future book summaries and projects.
We will start at $75 per summary and increase from there. I have full time, part time, and freelance writers on our team.
You will need a copy of the book for this. Upon accepting my offer and agreeing to write summary, either (a) I will purchase an electronic Kindle copy of the book for you (you give me your email, and I'll have it "gifted" to you through Amazon), or (b) I will provide you an “expense reimbursement” upon payment to purchase a copy of the book online (on Kobo, for instance). You can use the free Kindle app to read on your computer or iPad if you do not have a Kindle.
I will also send you a samples of current book summaries (so you know exactly what we are looking for).
All book summaries will be due one week (7 days) from accepting offer, unless we agree otherwise. Payment will be through PayPal upon successful completion. Please send me invoice directly via PayPal upon completion.
If you’d like to apply, please submit cover letter and explain why you’d be a good fit for this role, past experience, etc.
Upon selecting you, I will provide samples of content (so you know exactly what we’re looking for). I’m also happy to answer any questions, clarify anything, or provide any further information to make sure you are set up for success.
Thank you in advance and I look forward to working with you if it's the right fit!
Sincerely,
Ben
