Part-Time Full-Stack Azure AI Engineer (Next.js + Node, Azure OpenAI) — Startup Role

About Us
We’re building nuvexa, an AI-powered automation platform for dental practices. Our pilot is Foxbury Dental, and we use Microsoft Azure + Power Platform to streamline operations and deliver real-time KPIs.
We are a startup, so this role starts part-time (4 hrs/day) at £10–12/hr, but as we launch and grow, we plan to transition you to full-time with a competitive salary package. If you want to be part of something from the ground up and grow with us, this is your chance.
Role (Part-Time, 4 hrs/day, PH-based, Individual Only)
You’ll wire Azure OpenAI with Azure AI Search (RAG), build secure endpoints on Azure, and ship a Next.js app that uses those endpoints. You’ll also publish a Power Platform Custom Connector so our apps/flows can call the AI features.
Rate: £10–12/hour (20 hrs/week). Long-term growth opportunity.
Tech You’ll Use

AI & Cloud: Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure Functions/App Service, Key Vault, App Insights
Frontend: React/Next.js (TypeScript), Tailwind/AntD
Backend: Node.js (NestJS/Express)
Auth: Microsoft Entra ID (MSAL)
Plus: OpenAPI, Power Platform Custom Connectors

Responsibilities

Implement RAG with citations and basic telemetry.
Build secure endpoints; stream model output to the UI.
Ship a Next.js portal (auth, roles, protected routes, KPIs, doc search, chat with docs).
Publish OpenAPI + Custom Connector for Power Platform.
Add CI (GitHub Actions) and short Loom/SOP docs.

Next.js app with Entra ID login and one protected route
One API endpoint that streams a stubbed AI response
OpenAPI spec + Custom Connector JSON
Basic GitHub Actions workflow
Full instructions will be provided on succesful shortlisting.

30-min live repo review

Future requirement: We currently use GitHub Actions for the test, but our team standardizes on Azure DevOps pipelines. You’ll transition to Azure DevOps after onboarding (training provided if needed).

Work Style

Fixed working hours 9am - 1pm UK GMT.
