JOB OVERVIEW

We are a pavement maintenance company based in British Columbia, Canada, seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Remote Bookkeeping & Payroll Specialist to join our team. This is a long-term, part-time position for an experienced professional who is confident working independently, managing day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll processing, and financial recordkeeping. It may grow into a full-time role in the future.

The right candidate will be highly organized, fluent in English (written especially), and comfortable working remotely while aligning with Canadian business hours.

Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online for a Canada-based company, including recording expenses, receipts, and invoices.
• Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule for Canada-based company,
• Process commission earnings for employees according to our pre-existing processes.
• Assist with GST filings and ensure compliance with Canadian reporting requirements.
• Manage accounts payable: record vendor bills, schedule payments, and maintain vendor records.
• Manage accounts receivable: issue invoices, follow up on overdue accounts, and provide aging reports.
• Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
• Generate financial reports when requested by management (e.g., expense summaries, accounts payable/receivable reports).
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date digital records.
• Participate in Zoom calls during onboarding and occasional check-ins; ongoing communication will primarily be via email and chat.

Qualifications (Required):

• Required: Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably with Canadian clients.
• Required: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
• Required: Strong understanding of payroll processing for a Canada-based company,
• Required: Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Required: Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently.

Qualifications (Preferred):

• Familiarity with GST filings and general Canadian bookkeeping practices.
• Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal).
• Available to overlap with Canadian business hours (flexible for the right candidate).
