About MindFortress
MindFortress is building the world’s first personal data vault — your “Dropbox + 1Password for AI.” We let users ingest exports from Google, TikTok, Meta, and more, normalize their data into secure silos, and unlock personalization through AI assistants (“staff”) while allowing users to monetize their data and earn passive income.
We’re a small, product-driven team with deep experience in consumer brands and AI. We’re currently bootstrapped by a 3x founder (raised $80M+ of capital; grew last business to mid 8-figures revenue) and preparing for beta user launch in Jan’26 quickly followed by our first institutional raise. We’re looking for a Backend Developer to help scale our FastAPI + Next.js stack into a platform that can handle millions of events per user.

What You’ll Do
• APIs & Services ? Design, implement, and maintain scalable APIs in FastAPI (Python 3.11).
• Data Vault & Connectors ? Build ingestion pipelines for services like Google Takeout, TikTok, Meta, Gmail, Oura, Plaid.
• Normalization & Storage ? Model and persist data with SQLAlchemy + PostgreSQL (SQLite in dev).
• Auth & Security ? Extend Clerk + JWT + Google OAuth integrations for safe, audited access.
• AI Gateway ? Support retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and context management for GPT-5 and beyond.
• Performance & Reliability ? Profile queries, add caching, build unit tests, and improve observability (logs, metrics, error handling).
• Collaboration ? Work closely with frontend engineers (Next.js 15 + TypeScript + Tailwind) and the founder to ship quickly.

Requirements
• 3+ years building production backends in Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django).
• Strong knowledge of SQLAlchemy/ORMs and relational database design.
• Experience with auth flows (OAuth, JWT) and third-party API integrations.
• Familiarity (and excitement!) around LLM-driven coding, including use of Cursor/ClaudCode/etc. to accelerate development timeline
• Comfort with data pipelines, file ingestion, or event-driven systems.
• Pragmatic, startup-minded: you can ship quickly and refactor later.

• Experience with AI/ML integrations (OpenAI, vector DBs, RAG).
• Familiarity with Next.js / TypeScript for cross-stack collaboration.
• Background in security, privacy, or compliance-first design.
• Startup experience or comfort with 0?1 environments.
