About us
Design Makers Co creates high-impact social content for brands across events/AV & production, housing/property, and dental. We publish a lot of Reels/TikToks/Shorts and design carousels that get saved and shared.
Role snapshot
We’re hiring a high-level Video Editor (with cinematic-style editing) who also delivers clean, on-brand graphic design for social. Remote, 20 hours/week. You must be able to work UK hours (exact schedule confirmed after interview).
What you’ll do
Edit punchy short-form video (Reels/TikTok/Shorts) from event and brand footage
Cut longer highlights that are story-led, beat-matched, cinematic in pacing and feel
Build motion graphics/animation inside the video (animated hooks, kinetic typography, logo stings, tracked labels/callouts, masking & tracking, smooth transitions)
Cinematic colour grading (tasteful LUT use/creation), audio polish/mix, platform-perfect exports
Design Instagram/LinkedIn carousels and static posts to brand guidelines
Repurpose to 9:16 / 1:1 / 16:9 and stay current with platform specs & trends
Keep projects tidy (naming, versioning, Drive/Dropbox/Frame uploads)
Must-have skills (non-negotiable)
Expert editing in Adobe Premiere Pro and motion in After Effects
Cinematic editing craft (story-first structure, rhythm, tasteful transitions, filmic grade, sound design)
Proven ability to create motion graphics/animation within the edit (not just static captions/templates)
Strong design in Photoshop/Illustrator (Figma for layout is fine)
Recent portfolio for events, housing/property, or dental (not just POV/interview-only work)
Up-to-date on social trends (hooks, pacing, on-screen text, native behaviours)
Excellent English, fast turnaround, strong attention to detail
Schedule & location
20 hrs/week, remote, UK hours required (final hours agreed post-interview)

Showreel link demonstrating advanced and cinematic editing (not just basic/template Reels): story-led pacing, music timing, masking & tracking, clean transitions, kinetic typography, animated titles/logo stings, filmic colour grade, audio mix, platform-ready exports.
Portfolio links with 3+ event highlight edits and 2+ brand pieces specifically relevant to events/AV, housing/property, or dental (no interview-only/POV-only submissions).
One Reel example where you built motion graphics/animation inside the video (e.g., tracked labels/callouts, kinetic type, logo animation).
Graphic design samples: 2–3 carousels + 2 static posts (links or PDFs). Layered files (.psd/.ai or Figma) are a plus.
Tool stack & workflow (5–8 sentences): Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop/Illustrator (and any others), and your process from ingest ? selects ? story ? grade ? mix ? export.
UK-hours confirmation: list the local hours you can work that overlap with 09:00–17:30 UK.

Screening (application + portfolio review)
Pre-Interview Task (24 hours)
We provide raw footage + a detailed brief
Deliverables: one 30–45s Reel (9:16) + one 4-slide carousel
Show full range: trend-aware hooks, cinematic pacing & grade, in-video motion graphics/animation, precision cuts, on-brand typography, audio polish, correct exports
Submit project files (.prproj, .aep, assets) + final renders
Interview (Google Meet): walk-through of your project, design choices, and trend thinking
Offer (may include a short paid trial)
What great looks like here
Reels that hook in 1–2s, feel native to the platform, and carry a cinematic polish
Carousels with strong hierarchy that tell a clear story and drive saves/DMs
On-brief delivery, neat files, minimal revisions, reliable UK-hours overlap
