Position Overview:
Island Home Cabinets is looking for a detail-oriented Cabinet Design Draftsman to join our team. This role involves creating accurate cabinet layouts using CAD software for designing precise cabinet and woodworking components.
Responsibilities:
- Create precise and production-ready cabinet layouts, elevations, and detailed part drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, or similar)
- Conduct comprehensive cabinet and material take-offs to support project planning, and procurement.
- Assist with the preparation of job quotes by interpreting specifications, selecting materials, and supporting pricing and estimating efforts
- Work closely with clients, sales representatives, and production teams to refine design concepts and ensure all drawings meet functional, aesthetic, and construction standards
- Ensure that all designs comply with company standards, space constraints, and project requirements
- Identify and resolve design or technical issues before production to maintain smooth workflow and reduce errors
- Maintain accurate and organized drawing files and revision history.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, or similar) with the ability to produce clear and accurate cabinet layouts and part drawings
- Experience in cabinet design, woodworking, or custom millwork drafting (minimum 1–2 years preferred)
- Familiarity and an understanding of cabinet construction methods
- Ability to interpret architectural plans, elevations, and field measurements into functional cabinet designs
- Strong skills in material take-offs, layout optimization, and project documentation
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; capable of handling multiple design projects simultaneously
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy, quality control, and production efficiency
- Effective communicator and team player, able to collaborate with production teams, sales, and clients to ensure design intent and expectations are met
Compensation:
- Starts at $4/hr (could be higher depending on skills and experience)
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
