JOB OVERVIEW

Property Accountant (Remote – US Property Management)

We are seeking a skilled Property Accountant to manage the financial books for multiple properties. This role will start on a project basis with the potential to grow into a part-time or full-time position.

The Property Accountant will be responsible for handling accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), income/expense management, reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and forecasting. You will also work closely with property managers to ensure financial accuracy and smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate financial records for multiple residential/commercial properties

Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements and performance reports

Review and analyze property budgets, forecasts, and variances

Reconcile bank accounts and manage the general ledger

Process AP/AR, including vendor payments and tenant receivables

Monitor cash flow and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies

Support property managers with financial insights and reporting needs

Qualifications

Proven experience in US Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Property Accounting

Strong understanding of US GAAP and accounting principles

Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online/Enterprise) and Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets

Experience preparing financial reports, budgets, and reconciliations

Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple property accounts simultaneously

Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with property managers

Self-motivated, organized, and deadline-driven

Preferred Skills

Background in real estate or property management accounting

Familiarity with property management software (e.g., Yardi, Buildium, AppFolio, or ---------- )

Experience working with remote teams

Compensation & Schedule

Starting Rate: Based on experience

Hours: 20–25 hours per week to start (with potential to increase to full-time)

Schedule: Flexible, with availability to meet reporting deadlines
