JOB OVERVIEW

Web Developer (Part-Time, Remote, Contractor)

About Jennings Social Media & MarTech (JSMM)
Founded in 2003, JSMM is an award-winning, woman-owned digital marketing and advertising agency headquartered in Overland Park, KS, with satellite teams in Miami Beach and Orange County. We build conversion-focused websites and campaigns for B2B and B2C brands across travel, automotive logistics, med-tech, real estate, retail and more.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a detail-obsessed Web Developer to support ongoing client work on a part-time, contract basis. You’ll build and launch high-quality sites (primarily WordPress), implement forms and integrations, translate Figma designs into clean, responsive pages, and partner with our project managers and creatives to hit deadlines. Strong communication, QA discipline, and the ability to recommend better solutions are a must.

What You’ll Do

Build & maintain WordPress sites (custom themes/child themes, page builders, templates, plugins).

Work from Figma files to deliver responsive, pixel-accurate pages and components.

Stand up environments & launches: staging ? production, DNS/SSL, backups, 301 redirects, CDN, caching, and WP Engine (or similar).

Implement and QA contact forms (Gravity Forms/HubSpot/Shopify/Squarespace forms), set up notifications, spam protection, thank-you pages, and CRM/email integrations.

Platform support: light updates and landing pages on HubSpot CMS, Shopify, and Squarespace.

Performance & accessibility: optimize Core Web Vitals, image strategy, lazy loading, semantic HTML, basic WCAG compliance.

SEO-readiness: metadata, clean URLs, schema basics, redirects, and indexability checks.

Analytics & tagging: GA4, Google Tag Manager events, and form conversion tracking.

Quality assurance across devices/browsers with documented test passes and launch checklists.

Recommend improvements to architecture, plugins, security, and workflows; flag risks early.

Own timelines: estimate tasks, hit milestones, communicate blockers, and keep ---------- tickets updated.

Must-Have Qualifications

3+ years building production WordPress sites (Astra/Block/Elementor or similar; custom PHP/JS skills a plus).

Proven experience translating Figma ? responsive builds with attention to detail.

Comfortable with HubSpot, Shopify, and Squarespace (content, templates/sections, forms, light theming).

Solid grasp of HTML/CSS/JS/PHP, Webpack/Vite or similar build tools, and Git (GitHub/Bitbucket).

DNS, SSL, hosting (WP Engine/Kinsta), caching/CDN, and migration know-how.

Strong communicator who follows instructions, documents work, and thrives in an async, remote team.

Rigorous QA mindset: you test your own work and ship with zero critical defects.

Nice to Have

Elementor Pro, Advanced Custom Fields, Gravity Forms.

Experience with WP Engine, Astra Pro, Yoast/SEOpress, and Cloudflare.

Basic familiarity with HubSpot workflows, Shopify apps/liquid, and Squarespace developer mode.

Accessibility testing tools (axe, WAVE) and Lighthouse performance tuning.

Experience with ---------- and Harvest (or similar PM/time tracking).

Success Metrics

On-time delivery for assigned milestones and launches.

Lighthouse performance ? 80 on key templates post-launch (or agreed project target).

Zero P0/P1 launch defects; documented QA and handoff notes.

Clear, proactive communication and accurate estimates.

Engagement Details

Type: 1099 Contractor, Remote

Hours: Part-time, flexible; must be reachable for scheduled standups and launch windows (Central Time overlap).

Duration: Ongoing project work with potential to expand.

How to Apply

Please send to ----------
(subject: Web Developer – Contractor):

Portfolio/links to 3–5 live WordPress sites you built (note your role & stack).

1–2 examples on HubSpot/Shopify/Squarespace.

A short note on your Figma ? build process and your launch/QA checklist.

Your hourly rate, weekly availability range, timezone, and earliest start date.

(Optional) GitHub/Bitbucket and one brief example of a tricky issue you solved on a launch.

If you’re a meticulous builder who loves clean code, smooth launches, and collaborative teams, we’d love to meet you.
