The Fraud Specialist in Affirm’s Risk Operations team is responsible for identifying, preventing, and resolving fraudulent activities that impact both customers and the company. The role focuses on safeguarding Affirm against financial losses while ensuring a seamless and secure customer experience.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* **Fraud Detection & Monitoring:** Utilize internal fraud detection tools, risk models, and data analysis to identify suspicious transactions or account activity.
* **Case Investigation:** Conduct detailed reviews of flagged accounts, identity verification issues, and payment disputes to determine if fraud has occurred.
* **Decision Making:** Make risk-based decisions such as blocking transactions, freezing accounts, or approving borderline cases.
* **Collaboration:** Work closely with internal teams such as Risk, Compliance, Customer Support, and Engineering to report trends and enhance fraud-prevention strategies.
* **Process Improvement:** Provide insights into fraud patterns and recommend improvements to policies, tools, and workflows.
* **Customer Communication:** Engage with customers for identity verification or dispute resolution while maintaining professionalism and empathy.

**Skills & Qualifications:**

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Experience in fraud/risk operations (preferably in fintech, banking, or e-commerce).
* Knowledge of KYC (Know Your Customer), AML (Anti-Money Laundering), and risk management frameworks.
* Ability to handle high-volume case reviews with accuracy and speed.
* Excellent communication skills for both internal teams and customer interactions.
