On-Page Optimizer
Team: SEO
Reports to: Director of Content & SEO
The On-Page Optimizer is a member of the SEO Team responsible for executing optimization setups with precision and insight. While setups are created by Senior Optimizers, the Optimizer ensures those recommendations are correctly implemented on client websites. This role requires a strong foundation in on-page SEO and enough judgment to know when instructions need refinement, when to add missing details (such as internal links or formatting improvements), and when to escalate issues.
Optimizers bring our company's standards to life in the final product: taking well-planned setups and implementing them cleanly, consistently, and with an eye toward real-world search impact.
Core Competencies
SEO Implementation Expertise
Proficient in applying optimization instructions (meta tags, headers, internal links, formatting, keyword usage, image optimization) directly in CMS platforms.
Quality Judgment
Understands the “why” behind optimizations. Can recognize when instructions are incomplete, misaligned with intent, or missing opportunities, and make thoughtful adjustments without drifting from strategy.
Attention to Detail
Executes updates cleanly, with correct formatting, consistent style, and error-free publishing.
Content Awareness
Ability to maintain voice, readability, and intent while making SEO-driven changes. Avoids keyword stuffing or awkward phrasing.
Technical Comfort
Familiar with CMS platforms, plugins, redirects, schema basics, and accessibility elements like alt text.
Communication & Escalation
Knows when to clarify or escalate unclear setups. Documents changes clearly for teammates and communicates blockers proactively.
Process Discipline
Follows SOPs consistently while balancing efficiency and quality.
Responsibilities
1. Implementation & Publishing
Execute optimization setups prepared by Senior Optimizers with precision and attention to detail.
Apply updates directly to client websites when access permits, or hand off cleanly to the Web Team for publishing.
Incorporate judgment calls where needed — e.g., adding relevant internal links, refining formatting, or polishing copy — to ensure the final product meets our company standards.
2. Quality Assurance
Review implemented pages for accuracy, consistency, and functionality before publishing.
Ensure all optimizations meet our On-Page Optimization Standards.
Flag discrepancies or missing elements in setups and suggest improvements when appropriate.
3. Workflow Support
Track task progress in our project management tool and complete assignments on time.
Communicate blockers and ambiguities quickly to the Director of Content & SEO or the setup owner.
Contribute to process feedback for smoother setup-to-implementation workflows.
Priorities
Execute with Accuracy: Implement optimization setups cleanly, consistently, and on time.
Apply SEO Judgment: Recognize when small additions (e.g., links, structure tweaks) will improve quality without deviating from strategy.
Maintain Standards: Ensure all published work reflects Constellation’s quality benchmarks for readability, alignment, and SEO performance.
