The position is for an experienced PR specialist to elevate the professional profile of a Virginia-based law firm executive through strategic media placements and thought leadership.
The focus is on center and center-right outlets, encompassing both regional Virginia press (e.g., Richmond Times-Dispatch, Virginia Pilot, Roanoke Times) and national media (e.g., Wall Street Journal, Fox Business), as well as statewide coverage, to highlight expertise in economic and workforce issues for small businesses. We are also open to national exposure to build a broader audience while maintaining a strong Virginia presence.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:
Craft and Pitch 3 Op-Eds/Articles Per Month: Develop and submit 3 well-researched, compelling op-ed pieces or articles each month on topics such as regulatory hurdles for entrepreneurs, small business growth challenges, workforce development strategies, or economic policy impacts on local communities. These should target high-authority outlets to maximize credibility and reach.
Specifically, aim for a mix of:
National/Regional Credibility: High-domain authority sites (e.g., DA 60+ outlets like Wall Street Journal with a DA of approximately 94, Virginia Business with a DA around 65-70, or Forbes with a DA of 95) to establish thought leadership on a broader scale and attract national attention from business and policy audiences.
Statewide Reach: Local and regional papers such as Roanoke Times (DA ~70-75), Richmond Times-Dispatch (DA ~75-80), and Virginia Pilot (DA ~70-75) to build a strong, favorable name ID across Virginia, particularly in key areas like Winchester, Richmond, and Hampton Roads.
Ensure content is tailored to each outlet’s audience, emphasizing practical insights from a law firm executive perspective, and avoid overt political framing to maintain discretion while showcasing economic expertise.
Secure 4 Media Interviews or Mentions Per Month: Arrange and facilitate 4 media interviews, mentions, or features per month in credible sources. This is independent from crafting and pitching 3 Op-Eds/Articles Per Month.
This should include a strategic blend of:
National High-Profile Outlets: Platforms like Fox Business (DA ~85), WSJ opinion pages, or national business podcasts to elevate profile beyond Virginia.
Regional/Statewide Credible Sources: Interviews with Virginia-specific outlets like WTVR CBS 6 Richmond, WVEC 13News Now in Norfolk, or WSLS 10 in Roanoke, ensuring coverage reaches diverse statewide audiences.
Target positive sentiment (80%+ via tools like Brandwatch) and measurable impact (e.g., 100K+ impressions per quarter), with a focus on outlets boasting DA 60+ to ensure credibility and influence among target demographics.
Develop Messaging Around 'Champion for the Little Guy' Advocacy: Create a cohesive messaging framework that positions the executive as a relatable advocate for small businesses and workers, drawing on real-world examples from business and board insights. This narrative should drive visibility, attract professional partnerships, and enhance brand recognition.
Preferred (Not Required) Booking Experience: Experience in booking tv/cable and/or speaking engagements at relevant events is a plus (e.g., 1-2 per quarter at Virginia business forums, national conservative policy panels, or economic conferences). This could include coordinating logistics, preparing talking points, and securing invitations to amplify the executive’s voice in front of targeted audiences.
Requirements:
5+ years in PR/media relations, preferably with center-right or business-focused clients.
Strong media contacts, with the ability to scale to national outlets; familiarity with both local and high-authority national press is highly valued.
Discreet and results-oriented—focus on professional growth and brand enhancement, not political campaigns.
Required:
NDA + Hourly Visual Time Tracking Program
