Medical Records Analyst – Personal Injury Law Firm
Position Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Records Analyst to join our small but fast-paced personal injury law firm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the meticulous review, organization, and summarization of medical records to support our legal team in building strong cases for our clients. This role is crucial to our case preparation process and requires precision, confidentiality, and the ability to manage large volumes of information efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
• Medical Records Management: organize medical records and billing statements from various healthcare providers, hospitals, and medical facilities.
• Records Review and Analysis: Conduct a thorough and detailed review of all incoming medical records to identify key dates, treatments, diagnoses, prognoses, and causality related to the client's injury.
• Medical Chronology Creation: Create comprehensive, easy-to-read medical chronologies and summaries that highlight significant events, procedures, and findings in a clear, chronological order. This includes identifying and documenting all relevant information, such as physician notes, lab results, imaging reports, and prescriptions.
• Bates Stamping and Organization: Apply a Bates stamp or equivalent numbering system to all medical records in a logical, chronological order to ensure easy reference and an unbroken chain of documentation.
• Communication: Communicate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants regarding the status of medical records, outstanding requests, and key findings from reviews.
Qualifications:
• Experience: Proven experience in a personal injury law firm, a medical office, or a related field. Prior experience with medical record analysis is a must.
• Skills:
o Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
o Strong organizational and time-management skills.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).
o Proficiency with legal and medical terminology.
o Familiarity with medical records retrieval processes and HIPAA regulations.
o Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
• Education: A paralegal certificate, LPN/RN degree, or a degree in a related field is a plus, but not required with equivalent work experience.

• A self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
• Maintains a high level of discretion and professionalism while handling confidential information.
• 2+ years of experience reviewing and summarizing medical records.
