The Role
We’re seeking a Senior Polyglot Backend Developer to join our distributed team and take technical leadership on enterprise applications. You’ll primarily work on 1-2 active projects, with the flexibility to contribute across our portfolio as needed.
Required Experience & Skills
Technical Leadership
_7-10+ years of enterprise backend development
_Project ownership experience - Leading features from requirements through deployment
_Mentoring capabilities - Guiding junior developers and code quality standards
_Architecture decision-making - Contributing to technical direction and system design
Polyglot Programming Expertise
Core Requirements:
_Java 11+/17+ with Spring Boot ecosystem (Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, Spring Web)
_Python 3.8+ with modern frameworks (FastAPI preferred, but open to others)
_PostgreSQL - Schema design, optimization, and migration management
_RESTful API development and third-party integrations
Additional Languages (Strongly Preferred):
_Node.js/Express experience
_Multi-language comfort - We value developers who adapt tools to problems, not the reverse
Architecture & Systems
_Multi-module/microservice architectures
_Database performance tuning and complex query optimization
_Enterprise integration patterns - OAuth, webhooks, event-driven communication
_Testing strategies - Unit, integration, and system testing approaches
Preferred Qualifications
_Development Environment & Tools
_Unix-based development (Mac/Linux preferred; Windows users should be proficient with WSL2, SSH configuration, and command-line workflows)
_Professional IDE experience (IntelliJ IDEA preferred, but adaptable to team standards)
_AI-assisted development tools - Claude Code, Gemini CLI, or similar (demonstrates technical adaptability)
_Command-line fluency - Bash/Zsh, git workflows, SSH tunneling, tmux
Cloud & Integration Experience
_AWS ecosystem familiarity - S3, SQS, Lambda (nice-to-have, not required)
_Payment processing integration - Stripe or similar platforms
_Document processing - PDF generation, template engines
_Third-party API integration experience
Industry Background (Nice-to-Have)
_Educational technology or compliance systems
_MSP/ticketing platforms or B2B SaaS
_Financial software with accuracy requirements

_Flexible schedule with approximately 4 hours of overlap during Boise time 6am-10am (8pm-12am Philippines time)
