Data Sorting & Matching (Books/ISBNs)

We’re hiring a detail-oriented Virtual Assistant based in the Philippines for a short project (gig). Your task is to review our book bundle listings and identify the exact individual books in each bundle, then match them against an internal database to record their true, accurate ISBN-13s (and ISBN-10 if shown). This is a focused data-quality role—perfect for someone who loves carefully analyzing and classifying data.

Responsibilities (what you’ll do):

Parse each bundle listing and list every constituent book (title, author, format/edition).
Find and verify the correct ISBN-13 for each book using our internal database and additional reliable sources if required.
Add results to a provided Google Sheet (columns: Bundle ID, Individual Title, Author, Format/Edition, ISBN-13, Source Link, Notes).
Perform basic checks: edition/format match, duplicate detection, ISBN check-digit validation, and spot-check with a second source when data conflicts.
Send a short daily progress update (what you completed, blockers, questions).

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong data matching skills and experience with Google Sheets/Excel for structured data entry.
Proven attention to detail and accuracy on data-matching or list-building tasks.
Familiarity with books/ISBNs (knowing ISBN-10 vs ISBN-13, editions, formats) or the ability to learn quickly.

Nice to Have (not required):

Prior experience verifying product identifiers (UPC/EAN/ISBN)
Basic knowledge of publisher imprints or bookselling marketplaces

Reliable research sources (publisher sites, large retailers, library/catalog databases)

Schedule & Engagement

Gig / short-term contract; flexible hours with an additional bonus if the task is accurately completed within target timeframes.
Must submit a daily update by 6:00 PM PHT on working days.
Potential follow-on projects if performance is excellent.

Compensation

USD $500 / month (pro-rated for the project’s actual duration and start date).
Payments via standard online transfer.
