RESIDENTIAL BUILDING ESTIMATOR - PART TIME

A new Geelong-based residential building company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the company from the ground up by designing systems, streamlining processes, and supporting the Director directly.
The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, assisting with pre-construction processes, and ensuring our projects are financially sound from the outset. This role is diverse and requires someone who is highly organized, proactive, and eager to grow with the business.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential projects
- Review project plans, specifications, and scopes of work
- Liaise with trades and suppliers to source competitive pricing
- Assist with pre-contract administration (quotes, tenders, proposals, sending emails)
- Maintain and update cost databases and estimating systems
- Support the Director with scheduling, budgeting, and reporting
- Contribute to the development of systems and policies for estimating and procurement

Position Requirements
- Proven ability to lead and take full ownership of the estimating process
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience using Buildxact or similar estimating/project management software
- Experience in Australia codes and standards
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills
- Positive attitude, adaptable, and solutions-focused
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals

Additional Skills
- Understanding of residential building codes and standards
- Contract administration knowledge
- Familiarity with procurement processes and supplier management
