Position Title: Compliance Assistant
Department: Compliance
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reporting To: HR & Compliance Manager

Role Overview
The Compliance Assistant supports the Compliance Team in ensuring that the company adheres to internal policies and external regulatory requirements. This role is vital in maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation, conducting checks, assisting with audits, and supporting onboarding processes. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
Collect, review, and maintain candidate or employee compliance documentation in line with company and regulatory standards.
Conduct background checks, right-to-work verifications, and reference follow-ups.
Track document expiry dates (e.g., DBS, IDs, visas) and coordinate renewals in a timely manner.
Assist with audits (internal and external) by ensuring all records are complete, accessible, and accurate.
Liaise with candidates, recruiters, and third-party agencies to resolve compliance-related queries.
Support the onboarding process by ensuring all pre-employment checks are completed before start dates.
Maintain digital filing systems and ensure data is stored securely and compliantly (e.g., GDPR).
Contribute to the continuous improvement of compliance processes and reporting.
Perform other administrative and compliance-related duties as assigned by the manager.

Skills & Experience Required
Essential
Strong organisational and administrative skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
Familiarity with data protection principles (e.g., GDPR)

Desirable
Prior experience in a compliance, HR, or recruitment support role
Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) or CRM platforms
Understanding of employment law and right-to-work regulations (especially in the UK, if applicable)
