JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a skilled AI-assisted illustrator and book designer to join our creative team in producing a growing series of children’s books and manga-style titles. This is an ongoing, part-time freelance role with flexible working hours. You’ll collaborate in weekly review sessions to ensure consistent creative direction.

Our projects cover a wide range of age groups:

- Ages 3–5: Full-color picture books with minimal text
- Ages 6–8: Early reader books with short stories and spot illustrations
- Teens and older: Manga-style stories with sequential art
- A key focus is consistent character modeling and style continuity across multiple books and formats.

Responsibilities:

- Develop characters and scenes using OpenArt.ai or similar AI tools (Midjourney, Leonardo.ai, Ideogram, etc.)
- Ensure style and character consistency throughout each project
- Design page layouts and integrate text for both print and digital formats
- Prepare files for publishing platforms such as Amazon KDP and IngramSpark
- Participate in a weekly creative review call (Zoom or similar)
- Provide editable working files (e.g., PSD, Procreate, InDesign)

Requirements:

- Proficiency with OpenArt.ai or other AI illustration platforms
- Strong artistic background in digital or traditional media
- Ability to illustrate in child-friendly styles, manga, or both
- Skills in layout design, typography, and typesetting
- Experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva Pro, or Procreate

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience preparing files for KDP or IngramSpark
- Familiarity with educational design or child learning stages
- Manga paneling and sequential storytelling experience
- Knowledge of simplified readability practices (e.g., Study Tech)

Compensation:

- Hourly rate (please include your preferred rate in your application)
- Sales-based bonuses (percentage of net revenue or milestone-based incentives)
- Paid test assignment (3–4 illustrations, compensated upon submission)

Commitment:

- 5–10 hours per week (flexible schedule)
- Weekly creative direction/review call
- Multiple ongoing book projects across age levels and styles
