Hello!
Let me first make clear when I say "design" assistant, you do not have to design anything yourself- all designs are made first by me, then you will copy those designs onto other documents or pages etc. so mainly you just need Indesign and Lightroom skills, not design skills, and a little Premiere Pro skills.
The one thing I would LIKE if you had, is a designer's eye for photo editing/enhancing for my food photography photos- more on that below! This is not absolutely required though and is only 2ndary to my main needs right now.
I am looking for a woman for a long term position with me. It will likely start out part-time and may become full-time. It would be on an as-needed basis to start but as we find our groove it will likely become clear how many hours will be needed. My current assistant works full time for me already. She has too much work now with me so we need a 2nd person to do some of these tasks, as my business is continuing to grow.
I currently have 2 amazing filipino women VA's and I would be happy to put you in contact with them to find out what it's like working for me - you would become part of my team with them.
The main tasks I'd like to have this lovely lady do for now are these:
1. formatting and putting documents together in Indesign (of which I always create the actual design layout myself in Indesign, then you would take that design and apply it to the rest of the document and such). You should be comfortable enough with Indesign to know how to be efficient with your time, to keep layers organized (and organize the mess I tend to make of them!) ;0
2. This will involve adding recipes and proof-reading them for accuracy to the indesign documents.
3. Editing my food photography photos in Lightroom and preparing them for Web use as PDF's in a recipe document (which are the Indesign recipe PDF's you will be working on above). Once again, I have a basic look I already like using certain edits that I would probably detail out for you in advance for you to kind of imitate. However, you will need an artistic eye here to be able to enhance professional level food photography photos in the post-processing since every image needs custom adjustments to get the best look.
For lightroom, I typically take a LOT of photos of each of my dishes, and I'd like someone who can kind of sift through them, select the best few, edit/enhance them in Lightroom and also apply some photoshop actions (I will show you this part) and save them as various files and upload to google drive, etc. We will have a detailed instruction list for all this in advance, no worries there! I frequently make screencast videos too to help my VA's know what to do if there is any confusion and welcome any questions.
4. Potentially some video editing - this I'm not sure about yet, but it's very simple editing in Adobe Premiere Pro - nothing fancy.
5. I am seeking someone who will learn and become passionate about the niche I am in for this work so you can help out with other tasks I may need as a more general Virtual Assisant. Ideally I want someone who will not only do design work but eventually as they become knowledgeable in this diet, be able to help out with other tasks related to my blog that require knowing about the diet to be able to help with. If you have absolutely no interest in this topic, I'd rather you not apply, as it's hard to be helpful to my audience without being willing to learn and really be passionate about this topic.
6. Good written English is a must because you must be able to proof-read recipes and articles we use in Indesign without me having to check them again myself.
7. All of the work you do for me will involve a lot of back and forth between each other, because I utilize all these software programs myself and design the look of everything myself being a creative person too, so I will often have you create an ID document and have you send it to me, I will create the graphic design template of how I'd like it to look then send it back to you, you will then apply that look to the rest of the document/recipes, etc., you will send it back to me and I will look it over and possibly make a few design changes or ask you to make them, etc ec. until we get the final product. This will basically be the general workflow as I love being involved in the design process too.
8. We utilize Asana for pretty much all our tasks, so would want to use this with you as well. I really need and value frequent communication and updates about work being done- it helps me stay organized. But I also am very respectful of your needs and your schedule as well and there is always room for things that come up in life as long as you communicate them to me.
I'm looking forward to meeting you!
