We're seeking an Investment Research Analyst to support our debt advisory and capital optimization practice. This role is critical to our deal origination, client research, and transaction support processes. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in private equity, lending, debt markets, or capital raising and can operate independently while supporting senior-level client engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Origination & Market Research
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential clients across target industries (manufacturing, real estate, healthcare, technology, etc.)
- Build and maintain prospect databases with detailed company financials, debt structures, and decision-maker information
- Monitor industry publications, transaction reports, and market intelligence for deal opportunities
- Create target client profiles and prioritization frameworks for business development efforts
Financial Analysis & Due Diligence Support
- Analyze prospect company financials to identify debt optimization opportunities
- Build financial models and debt benchmarking analyses for client presentations
- Research and compile market rate data, covenant structures, and industry-specific lending criteria
- Prepare preliminary savings calculations and ROI projections for prospect engagements
Client Research & Intelligence Gathering
- Deep-dive research on prospective clients: management teams, current lenders, recent transactions, growth initiatives
- Compile competitive intelligence on other advisory firms, lenders, and market participants
- Monitor client companies for trigger events (acquisitions, expansions, refinancing needs)
- Maintain detailed CRM records with research findings and engagement history
Transaction & Engagement Support
- Prepare client materials: pitch decks, engagement proposals, market analyses
- Coordinate due diligence processes and document collection
- Support lender outreach and proposal management
- Assist with transaction documentation review and closing coordination
Strategic Projects & Analysis
- Industry trend analysis and market opportunity assessments
- Lender relationship mapping and capability analysis
- Process improvement initiatives for deal origination and client management
- Ad-hoc research and analysis projects as assigned

Ideal Candidate Profile
Professional Background
- 2-5 years experience in private equity, investment banking, commercial lending, or debt capital markets
- Direct experience with financial analysis, due diligence, or transaction support
- Understanding of debt structures, covenants, and commercial lending processes
- Experience with financial modeling and market research
Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities
- Proficiency with research databases (CapitalIQ, PitchBook, Bloomberg, etc.)
- CRM management and data organization
- Presentation and deck creation skills
