As an Accountant on our team, you will manage multiple client accounts, including learning and implementing AI accounting workflows into your everyday processes (with our help). This includes direct contact with clients and their CPAs, and reviewing financial files for accuracy and completeness before submitting reports. You’ll work closely with our internal client managers to ensure all work is completed on time, requesting any needed information from clients. Building strong relationships with clients is paramount, so a pleasant, friendly personality is a definite asset. You should have excellent interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail, the ability to juggle a variety of responsibilities simultaneously, work independently, solve problems, and act with foresight.
About our team: We are a very hard-working group of accounting professionals, and anyone who joins is expected to pull their weight. During tax season, our team may be available up to 60 hours per week (with overtime pay for hours over 40). However, this intense workload usually occurs only 8–10 weeks per year. Outside of the busy season, we maintain standard 40-hour workweeks.

Responsibilities (Includes, but Not Limited To)
Full-Cycle Bookkeeping & Accounting: Reconcile payroll, cash accounts, and balance sheets; maintain supporting documentation.
Tax Filings: Calculate, prepare, and file sales tax returns. Prepare 1099s, send them to recipients and clients, and e-file with IRS and state agencies.
Payroll Processing: On-board new payroll clients, register with government agencies, process payroll, and prepare payroll reports and quarterly returns.
Account Reconciliations: Perform intercompany reconciliations and assist with third-party financial audits as needed.
Journal Entries: Review and prepare journal entries for fixed assets, inventory adjustments, accruals, and deferrals.
Confidentiality & Compliance: Maintain the highest level of confidentiality with client data. Consistently and accurately follow established policies and procedures.
Reporting & Analysis: Perform ad-hoc financial analysis, research, and generate reports as needed.
Client & CPA Communication: Communicate with client CPAs regarding client files, especially during tax time, to manage necessary information exchange.
Accounting Standards: Work on client files using US GAAP, modified cash basis, or cash basis accounting, as appropriate.
Workflow Management: Complete work for 5–8 client files per day on a regular basis, meeting all associated deadlines. Approximately 40% of your work will involve client contact (including managing last-minute requests and expectations), and about 60% will involve working in and reviewing financial files.
Independence & Prioritization: Work by yourself for the majority of the day, prioritizing tasks effectively. Handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Adaptability: Be adaptable and willing to adjust to new processes and procedures as we grow and as technology evolves.
Work Habits: Demonstrate excellent work habits, including dependability and a willingness to work the hours necessary to meet deadlines during seasonal busy periods.
Process Improvement: Assist with the implementation of new accounting systems and learn new software for clients as needed. Create and maintain process documentation for each client to ensure consistency.
Interpersonal Skills: Apply strong people skills to work with a wide range of client personalities. Communicate financial information and general accounting concepts clearly and effectively to clients, regardless of their accounting knowledge.
Problem Solving: Solve problems and develop new methods of analysis. Identify opportunities to streamline processes and implement improvements.

Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. At least 2 years of experience in full-cycle accounting (U.S. accounting experience highly preferred).
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and superb organizational skills.
English Proficiency: Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and advanced formulas). Solid understanding and practical application of US GAAP.
Work Environment: A quiet, clean, and distraction-free home office setup for conducting Zoo
Work Availability: Willingness and ability to work night shifts (graveyard hours to align with U.S. time zones). (Must be able to start working within 1 month of accepting the job offer.)
Independence: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while being proactive in communicating when help or input is needed.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have):
Strong experience with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
Experience with U.S. tax preparation, and/or a CPA license.
Prior experience working at one of the Big Four accounting firms.
Experience working with U.S. clients (ideally 1+ year).
Prior experience working night shifts (1+ year).

Job Type and Schedule
Job Type: Full-time, direct hire, long-term position.
Hours: 8-hour night shift, Monday to Friday. Typical working hours are approximately 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Time (PST) to align with U.S. business hours (note: this schedule will adjust by one hour during U.S. Daylight Savings Time).
Work Week: 40 hours per week guaranteed. During peak seasons (e.g., tax season), you may need to work up to ~60 hours in a week (overtime pay provided for hours beyond 40).
Location: Remote - Philippines. Work from home anywhere in the Philippines. (Please note: we do not sponsor visas, and no relocation is required.)
Compensation and Benefits
Guaranteed Pay: You will be paid for a full 40 hours each week (even if weekly hours are slightly under 40).
Overtime Pay: Hourly overtime rate at 1.5x your normal rate for any hours over 40 per week (as required during busy periods).
Night Differential: Additional night shift differential pay is included for working overnight hours.
