Carpentry VA Estimator

Ideal Group Australia is a fast-growing carpentry contracting company servicing SEQ across residential, townhouse developments, and commercial projects. We’re professional, energetic, and committed to delivering high-quality carpentry packages for some of the region’s leading builders and developers.

We’re now seeking a Virtual Estimator (VA) to support our estimating and pre-construction processes. This role is critical in helping us scale while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism in all our tenders and quotes.

Role Responsibilities

Accurately prepare carpentry estimates, take-offs, and BOQs from architectural drawings, engineering, and tender documents.

Work with Australian standards, building codes, and carpentry scopes (frames, trusses, lock-up, fix-out, fit-off, etc.).

Use estimating software (Buildxact, Groundplan, Excel, etc.) to generate material and labour quantities.

Liaise with our internal team to clarify scope, highlight risks, and ensure all inclusions/exclusions are clearly documented.

Assist in updating and maintaining cost libraries, rate sheets, and project templates.

Provide quick turnaround times on tenders and track deadlines across multiple live opportunities.

Prepare professional quote/tender submissions ready for client delivery.

Skills & Experience Required

Previous experience in construction estimating (preferably carpentry, residential, or commercial projects).

Strong knowledge of take-offs, BOQs, and trade packages.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, data management).

Experience with estimating platforms (Buildxact, Groundplan, SimPRO, Ascora, or similar) is highly desirable.

Ability to interpret architectural & engineering drawings with high attention to detail.

Strong written and spoken English communication.

Highly organised, reliable, and able to meet strict deadlines.
