Web Developer & Designer
Employment Type: Freelance / Project-Based (with potential for long-term work)
Start Date: Early September

About the Role
We are a NZ-based company looking for a talented Freelance Web Developer & Designer to design and build websites end-to-end. You will work primarily across Shopify and WordPress (Webflow experience is a plus), taking projects from Figma designs through to full, production-ready sites. SEO knowledge and attention to performance best practices are highly valued.
The initial scope includes two full website builds, with ongoing project work to follow.

Key Responsibilities:
-Design website layouts in Figma with a mobile-first, conversion-focused approach.
-Build and customise Shopify themes (Liquid, sections, apps).
-Develop WordPress sites (Elementor, ACF, custom plugins, best-practice theming).
-Ensure all sites meet standards for responsiveness, accessibility (WCAG), and Core Web Vitals.
-Implement basic on-page SEO (semantic HTML, titles/meta, performance optimisation).
-Collaborate with project managers, SEO specialists, and content teams.
-Provide clear documentation and handovers.

Requirements
-3+ years of professional experience building production websites.
-Strong expertise in:
*Shopify (Liquid, Theme Editor, Apps)
*WordPress (Elementor, ACF, custom plugins)
*Figma (UI/UX design, prototyping)
-Proven portfolio (3–5 live projects, including at least 1 Shopify and 1 WordPress site, plus Figma design samples).
-Agency and e-commerce experience preferred; ANZ market familiarity a bonus.
-Excellent communication skills; comfortable using Slack, ClickUp, Loom, and Google Meet/Zoom.
-Flexible schedule with 3 hours overlap with NZT weekdays.

Nice to Have
-Webflow design/build experience.
-GA4 / Search Console familiarity.
-Basic schema, Git/versioning experience.

Work Arrangement & Compensation
-Freelance / project-based, with the potential to expand into long-term or full-time engagement.
-Compensation: Project-based preferred; hourly or per-project expectations to be presented along with the portfolio.
