Job Summary
[Nonprofit Name] is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Business Manager to join our mission-driven team. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the financial, operational, and administrative functions of our organization. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong commitment to our mission, ensuring our business operations are efficient, compliant, and directly support our programmatic goals. This is a remote position, and the Business Manager will work independently while collaborating closely with the Executive Director and other key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management: Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. Oversee the annual budgeting process, monitor cash flow, and prepare accurate financial reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Administrative Oversight: Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure the smooth and effective functioning of the organization. Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement processes.
Human Resources & Compliance: Support all HR functions, including onboarding, benefits administration, and maintaining employee records. Ensure the organization is in full compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including those specific to nonprofit organizations (e.g., IRS 501(c)(3) requirements).
Strategic Support: Work with the Executive Director to develop and implement long-term business strategies that align with the organization's mission and goals. Provide financial analysis and insights to guide decision-making and resource allocation.
Technology & Systems: Manage the organization's technological infrastructure and software, including financial and project management tools, to enhance operational efficiency.
Reporting & Communication: Prepare and present regular reports on financial health and operational performance. Serve as a key point of contact for external partners, auditors, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a business management, operations, or finance role within a nonprofit organization.
Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles and financial management.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment.
High level of integrity, discretion, and a commitment to the mission of our organization.
A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
A reliable internet connection and a dedicated workspace are essential.
