JOB OVERVIEW

Full-time – Remote – Long-term role

About Us

We build and support websites for UK councils. Our mission is to give councils the tools to publish agendas, minutes, news, and community information quickly, securely, and accessibly. We’ve built a solid reputation on WordPress, and now we’re building the next-generation council platform in Laravel - designed to be the best in the industry.

This is where you come in.

The Role

We’re looking for a Laravel developer who’s excited to build a product from scratch: a multi-tenant CMS using Laravel, Filament, Livewire, and Tailwind. You’ll also provide support for our existing WordPress sites, helping us build, integrate, migrate, and maintain client websites as we transition them to the new platform.

You’ll be working directly with the founder (a developer himself), so expect clear technical direction and a collaborative environment. This is a long-term, full-time role — we’re not looking for a freelancer hopping between projects.

What You’ll Do

— Build and maintain the Laravel-based CMS for councils (Filament + Livewire + Tailwind).
— Develop features such as agendas/minutes management, councillor directories, document libraries, and news publishing.
— Implement multi-tenancy (one platform, many councils).
— Ensure accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA), performance, and security best practices.
— Migrate existing council sites from WordPress to Laravel (we have a scraper to help).
— Support existing WordPress clients with fixes, small integrations, and content migrations.
— Collaborate on architecture, UI/UX, and deployment pipelines.

What We’re Looking For

— Strong Laravel experience (Eloquent, Blade, Filament, Livewire).
— Front-end skills: Tailwind CSS, Alpine.js (or similar lightweight JS).
— Experience with multi-tenancy and building CMS-like systems.
— WordPress familiarity: enough to maintain, integrate, or migrate sites (not plugin cowboy coding).
— Solid understanding of accessibility, performance, and clean code practices.
— Strong written English; comfortable collaborating in a remote-first environment.

Nice-to-Haves

— Experience with Meilisearch/Scout for fast search.
— Familiarity with Spatie packages (permissions, activity log, media library).
— Knowledge of ---------- design patterns or accessibility standards.
— Experience with CI/CD, Forge/Ploi, or cloud hosting.

Why Work With Us?

— Be part of building a product from the ground up — not just maintaining legacy code.
— Long-term, stable role with a small but growing company.
— Work directly with the founder (developer + product thinker).
— Opportunity to shape the technical direction of the platform.
— Your work will make a real difference for communities — these websites help councils communicate decisions and serve residents better.

How to Apply

Please send:
— A short introduction (tell us who you are and why you’re interested).
— 2–3 examples of Laravel projects you’ve worked on (links, repos, or screenshots).
— A quick note on your WordPress experience (migration, integration, etc).
