JOB OVERVIEW

Job Title: Estimator
Location: Remote | Full-Time or Contractor
Reports To: Director of Operations / Founder

This role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and supporting the operations team in delivering high-quality proposals. You’ll collaborate with management, suppliers, and clients to ensure estimates are competitive, compliant, and aligned with project specifications.

Your Core Responsibilities

>Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to prepare detailed cost estimates
>Source, compare, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations
>Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQ), take-offs, and cost breakdowns
>Analyze labor, materials, and time requirements for each project
>Prepare and submit tender proposals in line with client deadlines
>Update cost databases, pricing sheets, and supplier lists regularly
>Work closely with project managers and operations to ensure accuracy and feasibility of bids
>Assist in risk analysis and provide value engineering recommendations
>Maintain communication with stakeholders throughout the tender process
>Contribute to improving estimation templates, processes, and SOPs


What We’re Looking For:
>Proven experience as an Estimator (construction, trades, or related industry preferred)
>Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing
>Skilled in quantity take-offs, BOQs, and tender preparation
>Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
>Proficiency with estimation software, spreadsheets, and cost databases
>Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in calculations
>Strong negotiation and communication skills
>Ability to work independently, manage multiple bids, and meet strict deadlines
>Bonus: Familiarity with Australian building codes, standards, and supplier networks
