Full-Stack Developer for Cloud-Based SaaS Chatbot Platform (AI + Web)

About the Project
Builders, developers, and property owners often face challenges when navigating local government regulations. Zoning maps, LEPs (Local Environmental Plans), and overlays are spread across formats like ArcGIS layers, PDFs, and council portals—making it slow and error-prone to extract accurate property rules.

We’re building a cloud-based SaaS chatbot platform that solves this problem. The chatbot can be embedded on any partner website, allowing users to enter an address or coordinates and instantly receive contextual answers sourced directly from official council data.

Our MVP will focus on two Australian councils—Kempsey and Port Macquarie—and provide the foundation for scaling nationwide.

Role: Developer (Server, AI Agent & Chatbot)

We are looking for a skilled developer who can own the server-side, AI integration, and chatbot functionality of the MVP. The GIS side will be handled separately by our project manager—your focus will be the core technology platform.

Core Requirements

Strong experience with backend development (Node.js, Python, or similar).

Proven work with AI/LLM integrations (e.g., LangChain, OpenAI API, RAG pipelines).

Chatbot frameworks (Dialogflow, Rasa, or custom-built AI agents).

Cloud deployment (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

API development & integration (REST, GraphQL).

Database knowledge (SQL, NoSQL, Supabase, Firebase, or similar).

Experience handling semi-structured/unstructured data (PDFs, web portals, JSON).

Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience with the following will be highly valued:

Requirements & dataset preparation: defining MVP data scope, preparing datasets for ingestion.

Database setup: working with PostGIS schemas, spatial indexes, and performance optimization.

Spatial data ingestion & query setup: integrating GeoJSON/shapefiles, building spatial queries.

Document ingestion & embedding pipelines: parsing PDFs and creating embedding pipelines for contextual retrieval.

Query Engine design: developing APIs and RAG pipelines for scalable property lookups.

Embeddable chat interfaces: building website widgets that handle address/coordinate inputs and contextual outputs.

Authentication systems: implementing admin and user authentication flows.

Dataset management UIs: enabling admins to upload and manage datasets (GeoJSON, PDFs).

Chatbot agent & prompt management: providing admin tools to update chatbot behavior.

Admin playgrounds: creating UIs for dataset testing, ingestion monitoring, and query validation.

Engagement

Contract / freelance basis for MVP build.

Clear deliverables, with potential to evolve into a long-term role as we scale the platform.
