3D Character Artist

As a 3D Character Artist at Happy Little Games, you will be responsible for creating expressive and visually striking character models for our next game. Your main focus will be on modeling stylized faces with a high degree of realism—think anime-inspired, but with real facial features like defined lips, noses, and bone structure. You’ll work from detailed concept art and collaborate closely with our team to ensure our characters are full of personality and fit seamlessly into our game’s world.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about character art, especially faces, and who enjoys blending stylized and realistic elements. This position is open to both experienced artists and early-career candidates with a strong portfolio and a love for game development.

Responsibilities:

- Create high-quality 3D character models based on provided concept art, with a primary focus on realistic, expressive faces (defined lips, noses, etc.)
- Sculpt, model, and texture faces that capture both stylized appeal and real-world facial features
- (Bonus) Model and texture full character bodies, clothing, and accessories as needed
- Collaborate with concept artists and designers to ensure characters match the intended style and technical requirements
- Optimize character assets for performance and integration into Unreal Engine
- Iterate on models based on feedback to achieve the best possible results
- Identify and solve issues related to character art, including technical and stylistic challenges
- Contribute ideas and feedback to push the quality and uniqueness of our character designs

Compensation:

In addition to competitive wages, we offer uncapped profit share! We are open to negotiations on further compensation. If you can meet our needs at a higher hourly rate but in less time, we're open to that as well. For an exceptional candidate, we're willing to negotiate to make it work!
