I am looking for an experienced, enthusiastic WordPress/PHP developer to create and maintain high quality WordPress websites with us.
The company and most of our clients are located in Australia, so we have very compatible time zones. We have been in this business for more than 10 years and you will be part of a small friendly team of long-serving employees.
If you love to create clean, efficient code, make things look great, and have an EYE FOR DETAIL, please read on.
This is a permanent job with on-going, varied projects. This ranges for cosmetic updates to fully custom programmed websites. We'll discuss ideas for both features and implementation. (I'm technical myself, so we'll speak the same language), and deliver some great-looking, clever websites.
It is very important that you love programming, rather than customising WordPress via plugins. You are reliable, proactive, with a good internet connection for audio and screen sharing. You also take personal pride in whatever you do. Please do not apply if you are not all of the above.
Requirements:
- implement and customise WordPress sites and themes
- PHP programming, including MySQL database calls and object oriented code
- familiar with core web vitals and performance optimisation
- knowledge of css, jquery, javascript, ajax, sass and git (bitbucket)
- create child themes, plugins and custom blocks in WordPress
- implement membership sites (MemberPress) and online stores (WooCommerce)
- improve our base WordPress themes, development standards and processes
- knowledge of SEO would be beneficial
- experience using AI to help with development
- good internet connection for occasional screen sharing
- sense of humour (essential)
- left-handed origami (optional)
Note that you must know PHP programming. Just knowing how to install and customise WordPress plugins is not enough. We will ask technical questions during the interviewing process.
If you are interested, reply to this job posting with the following:
1. Write a quick answer to the following questions: (a) Why do you apply for this job and (b) what makes you suitable for the role.
2. Provide 2-3 links to websites you have developed and state why you feel proud of them. If you send a long portfolio of websites we will know you're sending a generic application and we won't look at it.
I look forward to working with you!
