JOB OVERVIEW

We’re StandUp Ventures — a seed-stage fund based in Toronto backing bold companies led or co-led by women. We invest early, stick with our founders through the messy middle, and care deeply about building enduring businesses and a better venture ecosystem.

We’re looking for a remote Investment & Operations Analyst to join our tight-knit team. This role blends investment support, internal operations, and research — perfect for someone who’s curious, detail-oriented, and excited to get exposure to how a venture fund runs behind the scenes. You’ll work directly with the partners, help us stay sharp and organized, and be part of how we continue to level up as a fund.

We work asynchronously a lot of the time, but we value real-time collaboration too — so you’ll need at least 2–3 hours of overlap with Eastern Time on weekdays. That’s non-negotiable.

**Location:** Remote — must have 2–3 hours of overlap each day with North American Eastern Time (e.g., 7-9am ET) and be available for a 30 minute call each week.

**Hours:** Full-time - expected working hours will be approximately 40 hours/week, but will ebb and flow depending on demand.

**Compensation:** USD $700-$1,000/month+, depending on experience

**Start Date:** ASAP

### What You’ll Be Doing

Each week will bring something new. Here is an overview of the kinds of activities you spend your time doing. Priority will be placed on the finance, reporting, sourcing and diligence activities.

**Finance and Reporting**

- Collect quantitative and qualitative updates from portfolio companies each quarter, tracking responses and organizing information clearly for our reporting process
- Maintain and regularly update our internal investment database, ensuring accuracy on things like cheque size, ownership, stage, and cap table data
- Support the preparation of quarterly LP updates and reporting packages, including basic analysis, formatting, and data validation
- Respond to one-off information requests from LPs, auditors, and our fund admin (e.g. investment history, valuations, or ownership breakdowns)

**Sourcing and Diligence**

- Review and triage inbound funding applications from early-stage technology startups, flagging the strongest fits based on StandUp’s investment criteria
- Monitor and maintain our pipeline of early-stage companies we are tracking (e.g., monitor their progress, flag promising startups worth revisiting)
- Conduct research and market scans to identify promising companies that align with StandUp’s investment focus
- Conduct research and analysis to support the investment team throughout the investing process (e.g., competition analysis, founder profiles, drafting materials that inform our decision-making)

**Marketing and Community**

- Support the planning and execution of ecosystem and portfolio events — both in-person and virtual — including outreach, logistics, and follow-ups
- Help manage StandUp’s social media presence by drafting posts, scheduling content, and engaging with commentors
- Write, edit, and proofread public-facing materials such as blog posts, newsletter copy, website updates, and other content that reflects StandUp’s voice
- Track and share notable portfolio news or updates across our channels, helping celebrate founder wins and amplify StandUp’s ecosystem presence

**Systems And Internal Ops**

- Support with administrative tasks such as email management, calendar scheduling, and document preparation
- Identify and take on projects to make StandUp’s investment process and internal ops more efficient, including using AI or no-code platforms or building StandUp specific tools
- Document the workflows and processes you own so they’re easy to understand, improve, or hand off when needed

### Who You Are

- **Strong spreadsheet and financial thinking** — you’re comfortable working with data in Excel or Google Sheets, using numbers to tell a story or support a decision and eager to grow your financial fluency
- **Tech-comfortable** — you know your way around common platforms including Google Workspace, Notion, and Slack, and you can easily pick up new tools and apps
- **AI-forward** — you’re already using tools like ChatGPT, Notebook LLM, or automation tools in your work and are excited to keep exploring what’s possible
- **Interest in startups, venture capital, and technology** — you follow what’s happening in the ecosystem and want to deepen your knowledge (past experience in these areas a bonus!)
- **Entrepreneurial mindset** — you look for ways to be helpful, find solutions, and take initiative without needing perfect instructions
- **Highly organized and detail-oriented** — you don’t let things slip, you bring calm to the chaos, and you help others stay on track
- **Independent and adaptable** — you’re comfortable working remotely, making progress with limited structure, and communicating clearly across time zones
- **Growth-oriented** — you’re a fast learner, open to feedback, and looking to level up over time
- **Low ego** — no task is too small; you see everything as a learning opportunity and a way to add value
