Bookkeeper - Small E-commerce Business (Part-Time Remote)

About Our Company
Pickytarian is a growing eco-friendly disposable dinnerware company (S-Corp) based in California. We create premium, compostable products made from bamboo and sugarcane for special occasions. We sell through multiple channels including direct-to-consumer, Amazon, and Walmart. The business also includes consulting services under the same entity.

Position Overview
We need an experienced bookkeeper for 5-8 hours per month (with additional hours during tax season) to maintain our financial records, handle reconciliations, and ensure compliance with California sales tax requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Monthly Bookkeeping (5-7 hours/month):
- Bank and credit card reconciliation in QuickBooks Online
- Reconcile and categorize revenue from multiple sales channels (direct-to-consumer, Amazon, Walmart)
- Categorize and code business expenses and income for both product sales and consulting services
- Track inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) for physical products
- Handle marketplace fees and reconcile platform payouts (Amazon Seller Central, Walmart)
- Prepare and file California sales tax returns (CDTFA)
- Generate monthly profit & loss statements by revenue stream
- Track charitable donations (5% of sales commitment)

Quarterly/Annual Tasks:
- Year-end cleanup and account reconciliation
- Prepare documents for tax preparation
- 1099 preparation if needed
- Support during tax season (additional 8-12 hours in Q1)

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years bookkeeping experience for US businesses
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (must be comfortable navigating all features)
- Experience with e-commerce/product-based businesses (inventory, COGS, multiple sales channels)
- Understanding of marketplace platforms (Amazon, Walmart) and their fee structures
- S-Corp bookkeeping experience preferred
- Understanding of California sales tax requirements
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Reliable internet connection and availability during US Pacific Time business hours for questions

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with e-commerce platforms (Woocommerce, Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, Walmart Marketplace)
- Multi-channel revenue reconciliation experience
- Knowledge of small business expense categories
- Previous work with US clients
- Understanding of charitable donation tracking
- S-Corp tax and payroll basics
- Basic understanding of US business tax concepts

Compensation & Schedule
- Rate: $8-10 USD per hour
- Hours: 5-7 hours per month consistently, with additional hours during tax season
- Schedule: Flexible, but work should be completed by month-end
