Position: Virtual Technical Operations Developer (Remote)

About Hillway
Hillway is a UK-based commercial property consultancy combining expert landlord/tenant management with innovative technology and Digital Transformation services.

We’re looking for a self-driven, technically capable remote developer to help implement and automate business systems, support our internal IT, and help build a robust website including a secure client portal and document upload platform.

Role Overview
You will be responsible for:

Setting up and managing our IT infrastructure (Google Workspace, email, access, backups, slack, office 365 etc)

Automating workflows across the business using tools like Zapier, Make, ChatGPT and custom scripts

Using ChatGPT to assist with building automations and coding tools

Developing and managing a secure, branded website with a client portal where clients can upload and view property documents

Helping design and deploy custom internal tools (dashboards, reporting, form workflows)

Helping with app and software projects related to commercial property

Key Responsibilities
Web development: Create and maintain Hillway’s website and client portal

Create basic user authentication and permission-based views

Optimise for mobile and responsive use

Systems setup: Google Workspace configuration, backups, and IT support

Automation: Build and manage integrations across apps (Slack, Gmail, ClickUp, Xero, Airtable, etc.)

AI-assisted development: Use tools like ChatGPT to write, refine, or debug scripts and tools

Custom tool creation: Help build low-code or coded tools for internal data handling, reporting, etc.

Maintain documentation and support the Managing Director in any technical task

Required Skills & Experience
Web development experience using JavaScript, React, or Next.js (or strong low-code web builders like Webflow, Softr, Bubble)

Familiarity with secure file storage and handling (Google Drive API, Supabase, Firebase, etc.)

Automation tool experience (Zapier, ---------- , or similar)

Experience using Google Workspace Admin Console

Ability to use ChatGPT or other LLMs to write working code

Basic database and API knowledge (Firebase, Airtable, or SQL)

Strong attention to detail and experience documenting processes

Bonus Skills
Familiarity with property or consultancy businesses

Front-end design skills (Canva, Figma, or simple CSS frameworks)

Understanding of user roles and permissions

Comfortable with GitHub or version control systems

Pay & Terms
Hourly rate: $5–$8 USD/hour, depending on skill level

Initial commitment: 8 hours/week, with potential for full-time in the future

Time zone: Flexible, but with some overlap required with UK working hours (GMT/BST)
