???? About the Role
We’re a marketing team that partners with martial arts schools, from Taekwondo and Karate dojos to kickboxing gyms, helping them dominate local search and bring in more students. We’re looking for a dedicated Local SEO Expert who understands what it takes to get service-based businesses like martial arts schools to the top of Google Search and Maps.

This is not an eCommerce SEO role. We need someone who can build strong Google Business Profiles, implement full technical and on-site SEO, and create strategies that drive form submissions.

? Responsibilities
Local SEO & Google Business Profile (GBP) Optimization

Optimize Google Business Profiles for martial arts studios

Get clients ranked in the Map Pack

Ensure accurate business info (NAP), local citations, schema markup, and reviews strategy

Technical & On-Site SEO

Audit websites for technical issues (site speed, structure, indexing)

Optimize pages for relevant local keywords and service areas

Align websites with modern SEO practices, especially during redesigns

Competitor Analysis & Keyword Research

Analyze competitors (e.g., outrank Jung Niagara for Jeong’s Family Taekwondo)

Identify high-intent local keywords with tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush

Coordinate keyword insights with the Google Ads team for full-funnel strategy

Link Building & Off-Site SEO

Build high-quality, relevant backlinks

Submit to martial arts directories and niche local citations

Reporting & Client Communication

Provide bi-weekly SEO reports (traffic, rankings, GBP activity, backlinks, etc.)

Communicate progress in a clear, simple, and strategic manner

Jeong’s Family Taekwondo (Niagara): Fix and optimize their Google Business Profile, support website rebuild to match SEO best practices, and outrank local competitors like Jung Niagara

????? Requirements
3+ years of SEO experience with a focus on Local SEO

Proven experience working with martial arts schools, fitness studios, or other local service businesses

Skilled in tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Search Console, and Google Business Manager

Strong knowledge of technical, on-site, and off-site SEO

Excellent attention to detail and responsiveness

Able to report clearly and confidently (bi-weekly performance summaries)

Bonus: Experience working with marketing teams using Google Ads
