Working Hours:

As our business continues to grow, we are now seeking an experienced UK Accountant to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.
About the Role:
We are looking for a full-time UK Accountant with a strong background in UK-based accounting, VAT, and financial reporting. This role builds upon the responsibilities of our bookkeeper role but requires deeper experience in handling statutory filings, VAT returns, and year-end accounts. You must have at least 2 out of the 3 following skills:
• Preparing and filing UK VAT returns
• Preparing and filing self-assessments
• Preparing and filing company accounts
UK accounting experience is mandatory for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
*Perform bank reconciliations in Xero, including accurate invoice coding and categorisation
*Review invoices and payments; flag inconsistencies or issues proactively
*Monitor supplier and customer accounts to manage cash flow and outstanding balances
*Maintain and reconcile company credit card statements
*Prepare and file UK VAT returns (required)
*Prepare and file UK self-assessments (preferred)
*Prepare and file UK company accounts (required)
*Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate financial records
*Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports using Xero and Google Sheets
*Liaise with the internal team and support end-of-year accounts and compliance reviews
Skills and Qualifications:
Must-Have:
*Proven UK accounting experience (minimum 3 years preferred)
*Solid experience with Xero
*Strong understanding of UK VAT, self-assessment, and company tax processes
*Experience preparing financial statements and reports
*Excellent attention to detail, communication, and time management skills
*Proficiency in Google Sheets and/or financial dashboarding (preferred)
*Experience working with UK-based SMEs or within the furniture/logistics sector (desirable)
