JOB OVERVIEW

NextStage is a US based company that helps U.S.-based businesses manage all accounting operations and monthly financial reporting. We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to manage no more than five ongoing clients at a time. You will be responsible for direct client communications. Our focus is on delivering timely, high-quality, detailed financial reports, and we are looking for accountants who take pride in providing excellent service and want to see the positive impact of their work on real businesses. This is a full-time, fully remote position with a flexible schedule—as long as deliverables are completed on time. Native English proficiency and excellent pronunciation is required for communicating with clients via email and Zoom. You will report directly to the owner but are expected to work independently and manage your responsibilities proactively. The role entails managing a junior staff on some clients. This role is ideal for highly organized, detail oriented accountants who love working independently and are self driven.

Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain accounting records for several clients in accordance with U.S. GAAP or private company standards (client-specific training will be provided). This includes working in QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Enterprise, or other accounting platforms integrated with billing and payables CRMs.
• Prepare monthly financial statements using the accrual method of accounting, including variance analysis, trend commentary, and other meaningful insights.
• File monthly sales tax returns.
• Weekly and monthly responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
a. Categorizing bank and credit card transactions
b. Processing accounts payable
c. Creating and sending invoices
d. Allocating payroll to departments and classes
e. Identifying missing, prepaid, or misclassified expenses
f. Reconciling revenue to billing systems or contracts
g. Reconciling customer payment processors with bank deposits and accounting records
h. Ensuring accurate sales tax collection and remittance
i. Processing employee expense reports
j. Troubleshooting CRM and accounting software issues
k. Communicating with clients via email and phone
l. Assisting with client onboarding
m. Identifying and correcting historical accounting errors
n. Completing monthly financial analysis and KPI reporting

Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an accountant in a public accounting firm or outsourced accounting firm, managing multiple clients.
• Must be very comfortable with excel and parsing through large sets of data with formulas and tables.
• Strong knowledge of accrual-based accounting.
• Ideally, experience preparing U.S. sales tax returns.
• English proficiency at Advanced-Native level. All communication is in English.
• Experience supporting financial audits.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (online and enterprise), Xero, ---------- , Expensify, Ramp, Divvy, Concur, and Excel (including pivot tables and common formulas).
• High attention to detail, analytical thinking, strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and reliability.
