Amazon Kindle and Paperback Book Formatter (PDF to EPUB & Print-Ready Layout)

We are seeking an experienced digital publishing professional to convert a text-based PDF into a reflowable EPUB file for publishing on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) including both Kindle eBook and paperback formats. This is a one-time project with more work to follow, especially for candidates who deliver quality and communicate well.
You will be responsible not only for formatting the manuscript but also for ensuring KDP compliance, creating a Kindle-ready EPUB file, preparing the print-ready version for paperback, and uploading all content (including cover files and metadata) into my KDP account.

Responsibilities:
• Convert a clean, text-based PDF into a fully formatted, reflowable EPUB file
• Generate a separate print-ready PDF for paperback version
• Format interior layout for both versions (e.g., chapters, headers, spacing)
• Create or format a cover image to KDP specs (front, back, and spine for paperback)
• Add page numbers to digital version that correspond to the print version
• Ensure the file passes Amazon KDP validation tools and renders properly on Kindle devices
• Input metadata into KDP (title, author, keywords, categories, etc.)
• Upload both digital and print versions to KDP (using my account, with access provided)
• Ensure compliance with Amazon’s current publishing guidelines

Required Skills & Experience:
• Deep familiarity with Amazon KDP, Kindle Previewer, and EPUBCheck
• Strong working knowledge of EPUB creation tools (e.g., Kindle Create, Sigil, Calibre, InDesign, or others)
• Experience creating reflowable EPUBs and print-ready PDFs
• Graphic design proficiency (for book covers or layout tweaks)
• Understanding of typographic and layout standards for both eBook and print
• Ability to add page numbering to the digital version that matches the print layout
• Fluent English reading and formatting proficiency

Preferred Qualifications
• Portfolio of published work on Amazon Kindle
• Ability to independently troubleshoot formatting or layout errors
• Strong attention to detail• Previous experience with nonfiction book formatting
• Bonus: Experience using Adobe InDesign or Vellum for layout

Assets Provided by Client:
• Final manuscript in PDF format
• Basic cover concept or digital assets
• All author/book metadata (title, author, description, categories, keywords, etc.)
